Estelle 120L5 shed!

:) This is my shitest Skoda out of the 5 Skodas that I have on the road, a car I believe to be very much in the spirit of Autoshite! I bought it about 3 years ago for next to nothing. The sills and box sections were rotten, it hadn't been used for about 6 years and the engine was siezed. After storing it for about a year outside I used a 30mm socket/breaker bar and a 24 volt jump pack to unsieze the engine with no dismantling and welded up the underside just well enough to MOT it. I've used it virtually every day for the last 2 years and have spent virtually nothing...2 oil changes, a set of points and 4 spark plugs to be precise! I washed it once 2 years ago. It never fails to start as long as I use the hand primer on the fuel pump when cold, it rattles, creaks, looks horrendous, bits drop off the dashboard ect and I love it! It's covered 277,600 miles so far and despite all it's rattles and knocks gives me the impression that it'll do it all again!

Brilliant brilliant brilliant.

You just don't see these anymore! Last one I saw was a mustard one near the firestation in Cleobury Mortimer, but it hasn't been there lately :(

My nan told me about Grandads Skoda (couldn't tell you the model, but 1980's reg I think), she said she had to spend any long journey turned in her seat waiting for the first hint of steam, and how her seat once caught fire when grandads fag end blew back in

A work of art that sir, just has that look of a motor that will always get you where you want to go,

Do you have any pics of the rest of your fleet at all?

Just Wonderfull

the crud on boot should be classed as art

Awesome motoring. That has to be a score of 10 out of the available 10 shite points.

I too would like to see the rest of your fleet. I am fond of the Estelle :)

Excellent choice sir! As you can see, been there, done that...

Bought from a sneaky-seller outside Chorley Motor Auction in 1995, for about 90 quid. When I drove it to the scrappy after a mammoth MoT fail my mate, driving my Capri, couldn't keep up...

Ah, this is more like it. Thanks for sharing.

Good little cars by all accounts, possibly one of the best Eastern Bloc efforts. I would love a go in one.

What a lovely thing! There used to be loads of these around when I was a kid, thanks to the dealer in the town and the importers up the road in Kings Lynn.

Sadly I cant remember seeing one on the road for years.

Well done on the save :D

Edit: according to this:http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=162&i=20718 there are 600 left. Might expect to see a few more about really.

What a seriously shite (aka cool!) car!

277k miles in a Skoda Estelle? That must be a record? Those things weren't built to last that sort of mileage.

Excellent! One of my favourite cars of all time, thanks to a school trip to Prague in 1992. :D

We also test drove THREE of them when I was looking for my first car. As someone said in a previous post, there used to be loads around - a lot of them seemed to be E reg's for some reason!

Thats ace!

Would love one, one day.

We had a S110R coupe with vinyl roof, furry seat covers and about ten dials (I was only nine at the time).

Dad used to put a paving slab in the front boot (bonnet?) in icy weather.

Epic car! :P That 5Ltr can being used as a washer bottle is genius!

I really can't imagine us getting all excited over knackered Skoda Fabia's in 20 years though!

Posted

Wow, that is complete and utter bollocks. I love it.

Fabulous!

More pics of the rest, please. Have you got any early ones with the vertical rear lights?

Hi Dave R good to see you on here again! Loving the Skoda collection as always.

Ever worked on a Simca 1000? Please feel free to allow yourself to during 2011!

We promise not to clash the next Autoshite meeting with the next Skoda AMG next time.

Love these cars, my dad had a 130 something or other in a sort of stone brown~ish colour, i think they called it mushroom. It got him to work and back for 5 years and he sold it on without much trouble. They did have quite a dedicated following didn't they?

I would like a 105s, the basic model, it screams to 60 in abpout 20 odd seconds iirc.

Still which would anyone prefer an old Skoda like this or a Kia Rio / Picanto, i'm betting everyone on here would actually want to pay more for the old Skoda.

There you go! :D

Daverapid, that looks like my dad's with the alloys on it

I will have to ask him the reg. I think his was F reg.

We test drove one that mushroom colour in the 90s. I can still remember the three letters on the number plate were HOL.

Excellent! I've just disposed of my Skoda Fun to Torsten; it had 170K miles, which I thought was a record for a Skoda but your mileage is fantastic! I salute your efforts, sir! Those overhead valve motors are unbustable as long as the cooling system's looked after. I think it's the same engine that went in the Favorits before VW became involved, and they were very good motors.

My fun, in its way to The Isle Of Wight!

Quality fleet! :D

277k on a rear-engined Skoda is the stuff of legends. Mingebag motoring at its finest.
