RoadworkUK Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Lovely Gibraltarian photos and all that, but looking at your earlier stuff makes me bizzarely miss Coventry! The shot with Hamilton News visible on the bus station held particular memories; can you still buy a Toblerone for a quid before catching the number 33 MCW Metrobus to Bell Green?
morris_ital_lover Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Brilliant photos there... when I went to Gibraltar in 2010 that Cowley seemed to be in use as a daily driver and was regularly plodding it's way up the rock. Gib seems to attract uber shite, when I went there seemed to be a few dead Chinese built vans as well as 80s Mitsi pickups. Most of the stuff seemed to die pretty quickly though, probably due to the sea air, with little other than a brilliant Daimler Fleetline and the Morris on the roads over the age of 20.
worldofceri Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Gibraltar attracts shite in the sense that cars become knackered quite quickly; scuffed bumpers on all four corners and at least one smashed wing mirror is de rigueur. There's not much pre-'90s chod knocking about though; maybe the odd old Corolla or summert, and squillions of Suzuki Supercarry type vans. As for getting the bus to Bell Green, Roadwork, it's very low down on my list of things to do for fun. And I have no information on the price of Toblerones. Soz.
worldofceri Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Long time, no update. Having got out of the habit of adding to this thread, I've got a small back-log. To counter the tendency of spotz threads to drop quickly from the top of the board, I reckon I'll drip-feed a couple at a time. First, a much photographed BMC ice-cream van off of Edinburgh. That's the only one in my Photobucket currently, so I'm off to do some uploaderating.
worldofceri Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 From a camping trip last summer: From another holiday; this terrific Dutch registered Peugeot was seen in Somerset. Dax 1
worldofceri Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Moar. Nice Saab Minor vs. Sno_Kaos.
catsinthewelder Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Great spots and Rezpect to the guy in the Minor, I bet it copes with the snow better than those wide wheeled moderns.
worldofceri Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Cheers Catz! Herald was seen in Leicester, I think. The old-dear driver of this car clocked me taking the photo; I reckon she thought I was pissed off because I couldn't get my lorry round the corner on account of her shonky parking. There was actually plenty of room, I'd just stopped to do the spottage.
HillmanImp Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 That Mazda is a rare old thing. Good spottage.
worldofceri Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Couple of old Merc vans. One in Leicester, the other in Willenhall. Dax 1
worldofceri Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Took this because I didn't know what it was at the time. I've since found out, then forgotten, and now I don't care. Venerable Recovery Wagon still earning it's keep. scruff 1
worldofceri Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Kustom garden ornament. Another from Willenhall, West Mid's. Continuing the gold theme. Metro van was just up the road. morris_ital_lover 1
KruJoe Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Took this because I didn't know what it was at the time. I've since found out, then forgotten, and now I don't care. Even if you don't care, I think it's a Tata Safari, but the badge looks wrong to me. BMC ice-cream van off of Edinburgh. Anyone else think this needs an Aston Martin badge screwing on? Felly Magic 1
Felly Magic Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 That 4x4 thingy comes up as a Mazda when you RAC it..Must be a Jap import jobbie
worldofceri Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Deffo a Mazda, but I can't remember the model now.
Jim Bergerac Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 It was Mazda MPV in USA! USA! USA! but probably had some other name in Japan. I have a pic somewhere of that ice cream van taken from almost exactly the same angle.
worldofceri Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Dunno if this P6 will still be up for grabs. I took this six months ago. Nice shape these Merc coops. Here's a much ropier more-door version.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 That Mazda MPV thing is actually called a 'Mazda MPV', thats its name
KruJoe Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Aye, they were as imaginative with the name as they were with the styling. I bet the driving experience is equally forgettable. We got the later ones here, and they hardly stood out from the crowd either.
worldofceri Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 This Cortina certainly stood out in the Wolverhampton crowd. Down in one of them there Cotswold Honey-Pot type towns now. Note how the promotional vehicle is parked in the 'loading bay' causing their actual delivery lorry to have to double-park. Couldn't resist this non-shite spot a few miles down the road.
worldofceri Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Odd one this. Right hand drive, but looks federal-spec. Badged 'American'. Anyone? Just as hard to fathom on many different levels.
Junkman Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Odd one this. Right hand drive, but looks federal-spec. Badged 'American'. Anyone? "Limited Edition" series for the EU market. It's not US-Spec at all, just mock. Note orange rear side reflectors, US-Spec would have active red lights there, which are forbidden in many EU countries, i.e. orange reflectors yes, red lights no. They came with whitewall tyres originally. Renault 9 and 11 were available in similar guises, IIRC "Broadway" and "5th Avenue" respectively.
KruJoe Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I DEMAND MORE IMAGES OF THE EARLY POVO SPEC 214s 3 DOOR.THANK YOU. Lord Sterling 1
worldofceri Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Sorry, no can do. Have a DAF by way of compensation. Sigmund Fraud, mercrocker, KruJoe and 2 others 5
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 That Transit van is extraordinary, i reckon it belongs to some guy whose wife died about 10 years ago.
worldofceri Posted November 21, 2013 Author Posted November 21, 2013 What the hell is this? Rapid away from the lights is all I can tell ya. Another six-month old 'for sale' spot. Jim Bergerac, Charlie Croker and michael t 3
Jim Bergerac Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 What the hell is this? Rapid away from the lights is all I can tell ya. It's a Carver. A tilting trike made in The Netherlands. They were featured on an episode of Top Gear about ten years back. michael t 1
worldofceri Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Those kraazy Dutchmen, eh? Meanwhile... Ropey old house, ropey old Fords, ropey old boy in the window. And a tidy Scimitar from here in Cov.
worldofceri Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 This is quite wonderful. Lord Sterling, Magnificent Rustbucket and Dax 3
