Humber sceptre for sale in Brighton sussex

Hi guys,

For the past 3 days i have seen a Humber sceptre for sale and i finally managed to pull over and go and have a look at it.

This is as much info i could get as it was dark and it is situated on a main road.

Humber Sceptre registration NEB 900H gold in colour

taxed until 03.11 but would be tax exempt anyway

It's manual trans by the way

Couldn't see mileage as it was too dark and snowing.

I don't know if it's mot'd but being as it is sat on the road i would say it would be.

The only things i could make out is the nose on both front wings are rusty

Rear arches and sills and door bottoms felt very good (in the dark)

rear bumper slightly twisted but i think could be repaired

It has a vinyl roof and looks very tidy

Andy (seller)

07905 724477

£495ono

The car is on the A23 in Patcham (Brighton) sussex

situated between the main roundabout (by bp garage) and the Harvester pub (where the tin man used to be and wishing well is)

Front edges of the front wings always seem to rot on Arrows cars. £495 sounds like a bit of a barg for a T&T'd runner, especially being tax exempt. Arrows cars have always been a thoroughly pleasant way to travel, and the Sceptre is pretty much the pick of the bunch (apart from the Hunter GLS, but they're a lot more money).

This is about 2 minutes from my house so if anyone wants me to go and have a look in the daylight I will. I'll probably pop down and get some snaps anyway if I get out of bed tomorrow (About 50/50 in this weather)

These always seem like a bargain, I'm destined to own one at some point I'm sure.

Hi ya Mate,

This is car is one of many cars that are scattered for sale around Brighton, most of them are normally cheap i have to say

I obviously haven't driven this car or heard it run but the bodywork did look quite good apart from the front wings at the front which is possibly why it is priced cheaply?

Maybe they have taken into consideration the cost of repair of the wings from the asking price.

I thought it was quite cheap too but then thats good because you could spend a little bit on it to make it really nice

I honestly think this car is worth a look and if i had the space ,time and money i would quite fancy it!

cheers

Hi Guys,

I drive past it every morning and it does look very very presentable as i drive as slowly as i can without getting someone flashing their lights or giving me hand gestures through the window lol

I would imagine Barratt it's gonna be covered top to tail in snow tommorow but might be worth a look for your own curiosity if anything

I am driving past it again if the snow isn't too bad and will try and take some more pics in the light if possible too (depends on weather of course too and whether i can get to Brighton from Crawley) lol

I hope someone saves this car though as whether it needs work or not it can't be that bad and just needs tlc

cheers

From this distance, that looks like a great deal. I had a 1969 Sceptre many years ago, it was quite the luxury car. I'd certainly have another.

Will do my best Gary

It is lovely rusty or not!

This.

I would do very bad things for a Hunter GLS, in any condition.

Tempting, but seems very cheap and don't have the time to faff around with (getting someone else to do the) welding at the moment

Hey Guys,

This car is still there,it hasn't sold yet.

I stopped for 2 minutes this morning and i tell you something, apart from these Front wings (which i think could be repaired),the rest of the bodywork on this car is really really good!

This is a real bargain for someone!

If i had £495 i would snap this up

This really needs to be save guys, anyone interested at all?

cheers

Apparantly it's been sold. It's not quite as nice as it looks, the front valance is totally gone too but otherwise it is solid.

garycox is gonna go down and force some money into the owner's hands if it's still there at the weekend, the naughty fella!

Hi Barrett,

Well it was there with the for sale signs still up at 6.00pm this evening??

In all fairness i didn't look too closely at the front valance but i would imagine if the wings are rusty where they are then the valance would need attention too, like you say the rest is very good isn't it !

I hope he puts some cash in his hand and buys it!!

I hate seeing a lovely like like one of these sat on the side of a road looking forlorn

cheers

I phoned on Monday and he told me someone was coming for it today, but he'd give me a call if it didn't sell. I just tried calling again but no answer. It's probably gone, but I'll try ringing again this evening or tomorrow.

Who's going to ask the vendor if he's seen the one in Brighton for £495?

Posted

What a wanker.

i drove it 20 mile when got it i aint used to no power steering.

He must know some bloody good short cuts between Brighton and Romford...

Posted

Oh For Fucks sake!

Just what we didn't want to happen . .

Some Fricken moron buy it and try and make a quick buck on it!!

I will watch it on Ebay and see what happens . .

I wished i had the money to buy it now when it was still for sale, hey ho though

What a shame Gary, although we did what we could right Mate?

cheers

TBH, if it makes £600 he is only just going to make even? Written like a proper pikey though. Probably get some lucky heather with it as part of the deal.

Or one's teeth kicked in, wallet stolen, wheels off your other car swapped, and it's relisted due to timewaster.

Sadly after reading that dimwitted advert i reckon it's fate is sealed...

might break if enought interest

I am trying to be optimistic about it,although i do agree it's not looking good . .

Or another idea is lets get six people who want to save this car and lets all put £100 in ,find someone who wants it and we all get our money back??

Or someone could bid on it to save it which would be easier if they can just forget the price went up £105 from last week??

I was just looking to see if the wings are available and according to Ebay there are front section repair sections available or if you go on old panels site they have a pair of wings but as to whether the site gets updated regular or not i am unsure?

If anyone does go for it please make themselves known as i would love to read this car getting a happy ending that it deserves

cheers

Wings do pop up from time to time. The repair sections only let you do about this much so you'd be on your own for anything further down/round the grille.

I think he's made a mistake removing the wings from a car he's trying to sell as a "drive away". At least we can safely assume he won't have made his fast buck.

Nice and local now, but the last thing I need is another old snotter, soz.
