Excellent. :D These must have been one of those cars that disappeared over night as I definitely remember them floating around quite a bit "back in the day"

Fabulous work Aled :) I love these celicii, such an awkward shape :)

Fantastic work! I love these, far and away the most shite Celica, except perhaps if it had been an automatic. If I saw that coming down the road i'd drop a massive OMG right there and then!

Well done! I seem to recall you had a lot of work on this, excellent that you saw it through.

Well done Aled , lots of work has turned into massive WIN .

Another well done from me, you obviously put masses of work into it. Those window frames really looked bad when you uncovered them..

Well done!

Will your respray involve hand rolling beige paint over it, badly?.

some rag rolling with mat green paint for that military look perhaps

see if i can do the mk 1 imp some justice in the new year.

Yes a big well done from me too, you have inspired me to take on the might of the Herold in the new year when wifey gives me the mig I got as a bargain Crimbo prezzy and with your encouraging words ringing in my ears and the evidence there for all to see.

How you gonna do the paint? I am cadging some more tips!!!!

Excellent, well done there! I remember these as a top rally car, fighting the Mantas and so on. Don't you think there's a touch of Fox-Mustang in the coupe shape? :) Nice to see one still alive.

Is the paint faded? Try going over it with really high grade wet and dry and then G3 if you want it shiny for a bit. Well done for saving, they're excellent looking things.

i use two pack paint from a local motor paints supplier, it is fleet paint by beck-mayer, gives really excellent results but does not come in metallics. shine straight from the gun.

here is a picture of my imp done 2years ago.

there is a guy that i have had some parts off, he has an early works rally car before toyota had the group 2 rally cars with turbos that were unbeatable for years on the safari rally.

i get people asking me if it is a tr7  some people just haven't a clue

bloody hell dude well done, that thing looked like it was fooked prior.

going to the nec on friday in it up the m50 and on to the m5 to brummie if anyone spots it give me a blast of the horn and a thumbs up.

chance in a million i know but you never know

They did. Way back when - a mate had a "liftback" automatic one.

He used to have to plan his routes via petrol stations. He was skint but he had a huge collection of free glasses and decanters!

Posted

so i have taken the car on its furthest journey in 7 years +, nec brum and back 350 miles fuel consumption 32- 35mpg.

not bad me thinks.

so i now know that the car is reliable and i can trust it to venture further afield in it.

i am well happy with it so will get the paint for it next week.
