Against all odds-this passed its first ticket today.

Now all I have to do is persuade DVLA to register it -and issue a disc.

Happy days.

Great news!

Sorry, will have to plead ignorance here - is that a Moskvich? :)

Posted

It a Gaz (Volga) model 31029. Rims are Suzuki.

6.7-1 compression ratio -came with an emergency gallon can (of paraffin!) - with which I shall be experimenting shortly.

I managed to get a Minor to run exclusively on (free) paraffin many years ago - a similar idea kinda appeals here.

Splendid. Used to see a lot of these around China but they have all been mandatorily scrapped now. I'd like to think it managed to get up those ramps.

I assume this is the one you recently rescued from The Dungeon? Looks unusual on off-road tyres. Congrats on the MoT pass - is this going to be pressed into regular service?

Posted

Yup-thats the one.Variable clutch pedal at pres -but all the rest is ''sorted''.

Only covered 14000 kms- because the lights had NEVER worked properly.

Sidelights fine, but extinguished when flicked to dip/main! Had to cut a small hole in the bottom of the dash to get to the back of the switch -and put the wires on the right way around! Likewise the wipers/washers- that had no proper power connection...

Want to get a towball on the back to see if its suitable, then hopefully retire the T16s

Sarf London.

Excavated from the dungeon & hauled back on't A frame.

Glad VOSA didnt stop me on that journey!

Excellent news and +1 on those wheels, looks fantastic. The fact you towed it with a BX makes it even better!

Posted

Congrats, that is a wonderful car! Does look huge...

Posted

Course you can Kev.

Once its settled down-and the snaggings complete, I'll fab up a towhitch and head up with the Aframe.

Michiel-its king normous (-leastways too me).

Posted

Fantastic!!! Looks like a great rescue proj going on here.

What is the dungeon though? Where is it and how did the A-frame mission go?

Posted

Glorious! And +1 on those wheels, good choice. It should be a highly suitable towcar: RWD, heavy in its own right, 2.5 litre 4-pot so probably a whole bunch of torque. Can you tell I used to haul caravans with a Lada Estate? :D I wouldn't expect it to be very fast, but it should certainly be strong, like strong enough to pull whatever you put behind it, all day every day. May it serve you well. 8)

That looks fantastic, 'specially on those wheels.

Good work!!

Ta all. Its on limited mileage until the UK reg comes through-as I dont fancy the discussion about Lithuanian plates- even though I can prove paperworks gone off.

Seems torquey- prob too wallowy for speed -hence the towtruck idea.

6.7-1 compression ratio-and the fuel can in the boot isl abelled 'paraffin' -so,once its settled -theres an option for''cheaper running''.

The Dungeon is a secret S London underground carpark, a bit like something from the Cypriot bufferzone. Several members on here have ''an interest''-some of the long term contents defy belief.

Aha!! I should have known that, in fact I do know. I looked at the pic and had visions of dragging that back from the fuggin Baltic states behind the BX, if that had been the case my A-frame hat would be coming right off 'atcha.

Totally agree, 'wheels are bloody ace.

£40 -as is-thiefbay.

Daihatsu/Suzuki rims. Got a similar set (with marginally smaller tyres) on my Fregate. Butched it up no end.
