lee stewart is not a comedian, just a twat FACT

Lee Stewart joke consists of an introduction to a topic, 1/2 an hour of smug comments about things wrong with people closely related to topic, abstract topic conclusion/"punchline" which is only observed by 0.000001% of the population. People laugh because they're glad the twit has finished and left the stage. He's right on because he casually mocks Nick Griffin. Ooh, new territory!

The rear end brake lights of a Calibra were styled after the shape of the feet of a runner on the start line.

Rover commissioned Prodrive to work on a rear wheel drive V8 Rover 75. Unfortunately, it was Rover, so nothing happened/they fucked it up.

Urban myth I'm afraid. "Nova" and "No Va" have different pronunciations in Spanish, it would be like saying "Car Pet" and "Carpet" are the same in English

Here's some random facts:

The z31 300zx has 2 trip counters

The b11 Nissan Sunny has a stopwatch

First car with remote central locking was the Renault Feugo

The Citroen AX GT had 3 stud wheels whereas the GTi had 4 stud

BMW's badge represents an aircraft propellor

Whereas Audi's are the 4 companies that merged with its Auto Union precursor (Horch, DKW, Wanderer)

Plainly I IZ WRONG  , wummum , what is that car

It's a 1902 Spyker. It was driven up the steps of Crystal Palace in 1905 to demonstrate the advantages of four wheel drive.

They couldn't afford ProDrive to do it, so they did it themselves in a shed. Mostly on account of the existence of the 'X-Power' supercar, which the management had bought from the owners of De Tomaso, and mildly restyled. This left them with all the components to convert an MG ZT to rear drive. Which they did over lunch, in the shed, with sellotape.

And it has a Ford engine.

How about the urban myth that 'Camaro' means 'loose bowels' or 'shrimp' in the vernacular of various Spanish dialects? Probly untrue, but mildly amusing.

Enzo Ferrari actually had two families. Two wives with kids and all, on the go, at the same time. Dirty/lucky old goat.

Oh, and Harry Ferguson designed and built a production-able FF estate car (not unlike a Subaru Forester in concept), to hawk the idea round various car manufacturers. He nearly put it into production, but hadn't the space in his tractor factories. After GKN bought the system from him, they nearly succeeded in selling it to Ford and Volvo. Yes, a Capri FF was seriously considered. Jack Brabham's workshop, on the other hand, built a handful of Shelby Mustangs with the FF system.

And the Jensen Interceptor FF was the first production car with ABS - Dunlop's mechanically activated 'Maxaret' system.

Seriously, there's no room in my brain for useful stuff. Just automotive factoids. Damn, I've lost me fags again...

Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds was very popular in Japan. However, Tintin had to be renamed because the Japanese pronounce T as Ch and Chin Chin means "large phallus" in Japanese.

They started out, as usual, as a sewing machine company. They were also partners with Renault at the start of the century. They produced a large majority of machinery during WW2, so the allies bombed their factories into dust.

For France, MR2 was shortened to MR because 'MR2' said in French quickly, sounds like 'merde'.

I did! Harry Ferguson was very enterprising in getting his system 'out there'. Of course there were the military spy cars, and their civvie offshoots, too.

The Vatican bank chipped in to save Ducati from collapse in the mid-80's, before the Castiglioni Brothers bought it. So we have conclusive proof that God rides a Duke, not a Harley. Case closed...

The protagonist of Wizadora had a special car in some episodes. It was a Mitsubishi Tredia "Parade Car", specially coachbuilt by the American Sunroof Company. Wizadora's Wizzer, as it was known, included numerous additions including a (non-working) Magic Spells display panel. A total of four were produced (one for long shots, one for close shots, one for interior shots and one for stunt jumps), but only one remains to this day, as part of Joe Greco's personal collection.

1. Team Blitz does have an FF Capri.

2. Oldham is the home of the tubular bandage.

3. The 405 Mi16 x 4 has conventional suspension at the front and hydropneumatic spheres at the rear.

4. In the Spanish version of Fawlty Towers, Manuel was Italian.

5. The Suzuki Cappuccino and the Mazda AZ 1 share the same engine.

6. Geronimo Gardano invented the universal joint.

7. You can still buy Peugeot pepper grinders.

8. The Xedos 9 was the smallest car and the only survivor of Mazda's Lexus rivalling Amati range, which would have included a V12 flagship had the recession in Japan not battered Mazda's finances. The same downturn was also one of the contributing factors in the death of the wonderful Yamaha OX 99-11.

9. At one point in the early nineties you could buy a Mitsubishi Lancer with a 1.6 litre V6, trumping the Efini \ MX3 with its much vaunted 'small' V6 of 1.8 litres.

10. At least one V6 24V engined, RWD Mk 4 Escort was produced.
