Mr H Sceptre Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 The Brera looks so 'right' from pretty much all angles for me, esp the rear....
RedSparrow Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I always thought the 70s Triumph looked good from behind - 2000, TR6, Spitfire, Dolomite. And Kimberley from off of Girls Aloud.
barrett Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Mmm, I love a bit of rear-end action. I reckon all Japanese cars of the 60s/70s look great from behind, seems like they spent just as much time styling each rear light lens as they did the rest of the car.If we are talking real, no foolin pant-wetting rear ends though, nothing comes close to what Zagato were doing in the 50sMaserati A6G Alfa Giulietta SZ roundtail Fiat 8V ....They also look nice from other angles, too
Mr H Sceptre Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Got to agree with Senor Barrett re. Zagato designs of that period.
Formula Autos Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Classic & Sports Car magazine style earnest, well considered answers:No explanation needed really, I don't suppose Odd, but good Autoshiter answers:It's the epitome of '80s styling to me, and the subtle little spoiler is just the icing on the cake A sort of domestic Pope-mobile to the rear end of these. Practical, but slightly wrong styling wise. Therefore GR8. Like the Aston, no explanation needed, I don't think. I just think this is a clean design. To me, the best of the early superminis. Clean and functional lines. Boomerang rear lights, just like some Maseratis. Sort of. This sums up all that's good about cleanly styled Euro chod of the period. Unlike some though, its small size means the wheels aren't too lost in the arches. To me, it's better balanced/proportioned as a design than the hatch version.
trigger Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 There are some great suggestions so far but please tell that satellite dish is on the house and not the Talbot!
M'coli Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I was suddenly reminded of Friend Wood's Tryane:
flat4alfa Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 +2 on Also Ferrari 330 GTC Lancia 2000 Coupe Pinto, for when feeling spiteful But this can't be beaten for me. Even better with added flame.
pompei Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 +1 for the Batmobile. But has someone done it with matt black?
Albert Ross Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yet another Batmobile, with the view everyone else got!
v6pop Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Me old 1954 Ford Consul with 302 V8 Ford Mustang lump up front...
eddyramrod Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 +1 on the Batmobile, in a big way! I love that car....
flat4alfa Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 +1 for the Batmobile. But has someone done it with matt black? Nope it's because:When the pilot started shooting in October (1965), the car wasn't finished and was delivered to the studio with only the primer coat applied. "In the first shots the car was in the black primer, which really didn't come on so strong," said Barris. "They wanted to get more of a gloss on it. We then airbrushed white highlights around the outside edges, but that didn't come out as strong either. That's when we went into the 3/4 inch red fluorescent glow edges to accentuate the Batface and fins. It made it much more dramatic." Another interesting nice rump or three: Grifo Espada Khamsin And back when I had this P6B... ... I pretended it was a Keeble. A bit.
Magnificent Rustbucket Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 There are some very sexy rears in some of these posts. I love the Jensen and Espada and the Khamsin is one of my absolute favourites. I like these too: the Series 2 was the high point styling wise, particularly from the back - though the Series 3 is a better car. I know not everyone likes them, but I love my XJ40 from behind. I love the rear lights on this era of Imperials. 1967 LeBaron. Thunderbirds: Khamsin!! ISO Lele: The magnificent Lincoln Continental Mk4:Plenty of room in it too... Mangusta. Unusual but certainly sexy... Daimler Double Six. Love the contrast between the bonnet and boot length.
boobydoo Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 This gets my vote cos I like the way they just bunged in a bit of old painted plastic to fill the gap where the previous 'L' shaped lights were. Cheap, cost-cutting crap...fabulous!
Guest Leonard Hatred Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I like the Rover 400/45 saloon's back end, it just looks rather classy.
Mash Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 You mean something like this one?(Thanks PartrickMcRebel - borrowed from your spotting thread!) Hey wehere did you see that? It's now owned by one of my parents' neighbours, I had a ride in it a couple of weeks ago and we felt like 60s villains
Guest EccentricRichard Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 NO! Allegro, Riva, Mk5 Cortina, Princess Wedge, Mk3 Escort, Pinto, Ami, Rootes Arrow, the Talbot living-van thing, A SODDING MARINA FOR FUCK'S SAKE... cannot understand any of these! Classic & Sports Car magazine style earnest, well considered answers:No explanation needed really, I don't supposeHmm. I used to like the DB7... it's really gone through three stages. First it was a babe, then it was a MILF, but now it just looks a bit old and tired. The DB9 is much prettier. Odd, but good Hmm. Always wanted to like the Interceptor, but it's always been a bit gawky and weirdly-proportioned to my eyes. Saw one on eBay last year had the drivetrain and even the interior from an E38 BMW 740i... That Honda wagon thing is really ugly, too. There's something cool about a CX estate, though, especially the six-wheelers... Agreed on the Opel Manta, though. What a goddamn sexy, underrated car that is. I so badly want one with the 3.0 24V straight-six from the Senator...
