V(ectra) for Victory

Quite telling, I haven’t seen a pre facelift Vectra C for donkeys years!

V6 Elite. Very swish! B) All the best with the weekend clean.

I note the 'Richard Nash' used cars sticker in the rear window.  I bought my 1999 SEAT Ibiza from one of their 2 or 3 sites in 2002. :) The site I bought from got turned into a McDonalds last year (much to the local residents' displeasure) and they have just the one site now. Perhaps a sensible business decision to run just the one site as I understand the used car market is struggling.

I do like the car, it will be maintained and hopefully it will last.  What happens, who knows?

Exactly right. And if it doesnt work out its not like youve got your life savings in it.

Did the car washing thing and Gloss Boss’ed it afterwards. Roof and bonnet would benefit from a very light clay bar session. Bonnet will need spraying as there is a big patch of lacquer peel on it. Alloy wheels are in excellent condition but I was too knackered to do any more and my back was hurting. Anyway, have some photos 😊😊

Cos you know……… photos.

Brake fluid seems a bit dark, I might get that changed soon.

Not sure if it might be more viable to replace the bonnet rather than have it repainted.

Yeah I understand. I'd just not pump too much money into it under the expectation it could go bang suddenly. They have a terrible reputation for having all manor of issues and when stuff goes, it being expensive to fix - with most garages not wanting to touch them. It wasn't Isuzu finest lump by any stretch.

It has indeed, it’s a comfy and very roomy old thing.
Panels are straight with decent paintwork. It’s just the bonnet that spoils it sadly.

I’d leave it, usually at the most inconvenient time you drop upon a bonnet same colour in a breaker. New paint on that bonnet would be £££ plus it would need blending in wings you’d end up chasing it round the car.

No car is a lifetime investment, just service it and plan ahead for inevitable replacements of things.

Replacement is probably the least hassle tbh.

Ours was a 55 plate. I got rid of the elite alloys and acquired some 19" snowflakes which I refurbished myself - never again. Easier to pay someone. Ours had the power tailgate - I had the fear because we had looked at one previously- the seller admitted he had paid over £300 to get it fixed. The engine suited the six speed box but I dread to think what a replacement clutch would have cost.

We paid £1650 from a bombsite trader. Sold a year later for £500 because of the engine issue. Surprisingly it turned up for sale on autotrader in West Yorkshire not long after for £1500 - no doubt repaired with steel seal.

If it’s for sale in West Yorkshire it’ll be total dog shit. As soon as I scan through the advert and it goes Wakefield/Bradford/Keighley/Batley I’m out of there.

apparently you can fit 2 std coffins in a veccy c estate

I can well believe it. My sister in Germany used to go shopping in their company hearse, it was a Chevy Caprice, the only hearse at the time that you could get two coffins in side by side.

That explains why a local undertaker has one.

A single motorbike trailer has been purchased from the Colne area and the Vectra will have the chance to display its towing capabilities on Tuesday.

The trip to Colne and back to pick up a single motorbike trailer (eBay make an offer purchase) went well, tow bar electrics worked just fine. A comfy, effortless drive 👍🏼👍🏼
