I'm sure I won't be the only one keeping my fingers crossed for you.

WBAC - if it can drive there without turning any warning lights on they don’t test anything so whether the wipers work or not probably doesn’t matter. You should get more than spares/repairs money for it that way….

I’m giving it this week, possibly next week, and if Gumtree doesn’t bite then I’ll throw it to WBAC.

Bet you've still got it this time next year!

If I do it’ll be because I’m dead and my estate haven’t got round to finding the log book for it!

Close to an end game on this.

It’s currently on Car Wow where dealers are bidding on it. No one wanted it yesterday, but it’s on there again today now so will see what happens. However, it’s likely that it’s going to go to WBAC over the weekend regardless.

Sad as it is there are some positives. My other Peugeot is in for an MOT, and it forced a conversation with the wife that turned out to be quite positive regarding the Rover.

Bet cut losses at this stage really so you’re doing the right thing even if it’s at a huge loss, the thing has been a fucking headache from start to finish for you. Reminds me of my 3.0 Mondeo, best thing for it was to make it someone else’s headache.

Annoying though because now you’re back at square one.

100%. I can keep going with it but there is no point. If this was my other Peugeot then you’d better believe I’d stick with it. But the difference there is that the other Peugeot has been reliable for 16 years. This hasn’t done more than 2 days in my ownership.

And it does put me back at square one in some respects but I guess it also proved a few things too. As essentially I’ve been without a car all year we have adjusted to using the wife’s. I really only need one to cart my sorry arse to work, but that’s only for as long as I’m not working on the Lada. I can use hers but she won’t appreciate it, and that’s down the road for me right now anyway.

I really just should clear the decks. Once the 107 gets it’s MOT (which I’m starting to worry about as it’s not been tested yet), this Peugeot can fuck off, I can take the Rover from my moms home and sort it out one way or the other. If I get that working then it’s a question of do I keep going with it or move it on, at which point I will need a vehicle to progress the Lada work.

I can’t say I’m even upset at any of this, I’m not. I’m not angry sad or depressed by it. I’m disappointed that it didn’t work out of course because it was nice to drive and it was so good for the handful of times I could get my lad in to it. But I guess any taller vehicle fits that bill, the sliding doors are great but not required for me (compared to what I was finding with the Subaru). It’s height that I need more than a door.

I am philosophical about it all, and genuinely if you catch me giving advice about a car that isn’t a 107 - ignore me or do the opposite!

It’s funny how sometimes a bad run of luck with cars can give you a bit of clarity isn’t it?

I had a Saab 9-3 TTID that had the bottom end start knocking, so I scrapped it. Replaced it with a 3.0 V6 Mondeo that was flawless for a day and then cooked the head gasket, so I sold it on. @Ghosty sold me a mk8 Civic for pennies (and really got me out of a hole, and I am eternally grateful for that). And it made me realise I was sick of buying cheap stuff with a lifespan measurable in minutes. If anything take it as a shit experience that’s given you a bit of clarity I suppose! It’s not a great moral but at least it’s not negative.

Do you have access already to any period technical data?

I have recently been given a couple of factory service manuals for the Rover 800 series - feel free to let me know if there's anything you may need scans of

To be honest my wife has pointed out how unusually cool I am about it. I think when the Land Cruiser stuff happened I was angry at it. Same with the Rover. But whatever the reason I’m not like that now I don’t know. I’ve an idea but I don’t know.

I think so. I have a number of folders and stuff like that. I’ll have a look later (or tomorrow) and see if what you have is the same as what I have. If not I might lean on you for it.

You join me live here at the car park of WBAC, while I watch the solitary worker appraising a 66 plate Honda something or other. She’s 5 mins late with that gobshite. And I’m cold.

Real shame. Caught myself thinking it is nice to drive. Then I catch the fumes coming out the back in front of the wife who is in convoy with me. She couldn’t help but comment about the smoke she witnessed. I know you get some of there is no DPF, I saw it myself with the Land Cruiser. But that didn’t have a colour to it. This has a tint to it.

So now we wait…

£149.90, with the £49.99 privilege of paying to have my trousers pulled down and my bellend flicked with a wet towel.

So I said thank you for having me.

And drove off.

Get it on marketplace. There's loads of utterly fucked ones for five times that

What were you actually expecting from WBAC?What price would you have been happy with to see it gone with no hassle?

I’ve got it on Gumtree, but yeah I will have to face that place I think.

The scrap price is £180, and they will just take it for that. So if it had been above that I’d not have minded.

Stuck it up on eBay for a week. Auction ended today. Guy picked it up, and I look out of my driveway and there is no Tepee shaped object blighting my view anymore.

And there it ends. Without a replacement, because I have an idea.

So I will update the appropriate thread with that plan/update in due course.

The. END.

Mate.

Had all the paperwork ready for him, and he asks for the receipt for the timing belt.

Do you think I could find that?

Had the house torn asunder to find it and I couldn’t. I was so fucking angry at myself. Told the guy and said that really if he waited to Monday I’d get a copy from the garage. He was gone 2 minutes and I thought I’d look in a bag which came out of the van - there was the receipts!

So yeah, of course it would leave me with one last fuck sake moment. But it’s gone now and I’m fairly happy about it.

Like @rusty_vw_man said - I’m allowed the 107 and that’s it!
