What happened to the car since you last had it that made £100.  Last time I remember seeing it for sale it was not long after you sold it and was with that lad in Scotland who seems to have an endless supply of tat for sale at any one time

I'm not entirely sure, as it's better than when I had it. Was speaking to the young lad I bought it from, and he'd said about banger racers expressing interest in it - it was key for him that it went to a good home.

That's the one, I sold it for more than we paid for it the first time around. So really, I think I've managed to beat some sort of system here.

Yeah I had it before in February!

Found the previous thread:

Also, found a video on Farcebook.

I was trying to find wheels/wheel trims but instead, found a set of brochures and a nice Daewoo keyring.

Found a pic of it prior to the alloys:

Instead of the wheel trims, you could go trimless like in these press photos: (which are incidentally for sale on eBay, can supply a link)

ADAS, well played.

Steels above look great though the alloys do tickle me.

Scran acquired. Food is warm but the restaurant is colder than it was when I left the house this morning.

No clues as to the car, because I canny hold my own water and would subsequently give it away. 🤣

Disappointed if you didn't wear the crown for the remainder of the collection.

I've got a nice wee set of silver 13s here... ;)

Awakened from a brief slumber...

Alloys are gone, thank goodness for that.

Drives a hell of a lot nicer on the 13" steel wheels. Even managed to drive it out and about today!

Currently the Fabia is away getting tarted up again, so I'm left with the Nexia to drive as the temporary daily.

I've committed some wheel trim crimes, for which I feel no remorse.

These are so shit they don't even have clips to mount them to the wheels, so I've cable tied them at least three times on each wheel. Mint.

PWR light hasn't come on at all today, it's been going out for longer each time. Beginning to feel that it's getting better with use, but won't hold my breath. Getting 38mpg with it when out and about.

Oh yeah and the rear view mirror ejected itself, so I've got a suction cup one on the windscreen now. 😂

Putting the miles on this has prompted a couple of issues. There is now a misfire coming from the lead at the ignition coil (I can see the spark jumping). However, this draws to light the fact that everything on the ignition side of things is all, or at least mostly original. I have went on a bit of a spree and bought a new dizzy cap, rotor arm, ignition coil, High Tension leads, and a set of spark plugs. I may as well do everything right since I'll be in there.

If I happen to remember, I'll get photos as I go, otherwise yous will have to take my word for it.

In other news, I've removed those wheel trims. They didn't fit right and it felt like they knocked the wheel balance out, plus I've managed to get my mitts on some of those hen's teeth specification GLi wheel trims this would have come with originally. I sourced three from a nice young chap locally, and found a single NOS one online. The three are rough and most of the paint has peeled, so will be given a rough restoration (AKA have some silver paint thrown at them, terribly) before being cable-tied to the car, as I cannot find a replacement if one goes missing.

My mate, with whom I went halfers on the car, is learning how to weld (his father is an experienced welder), so we're going to use this car as a means for him to practice on, in a vague attempt to tidy it up somewhat. It'd be a shame to let it deteriorate further. I've been trying to get Ian to sign up to here but he's not had his account accepted yet I don't think. :)

cable-tied

I was embarrassingly old before I realised that:

a) cable ties weren't designed for holding on wheel trims

2) wheel trims weren't designed to be cable tied on

Bit of progress here. I don't have the money to make it concourse, but I can keep it going a bit.

First up was spraying the wheel trims back to silver.

These turned out not too bad (don't zoom in, please). These, and the others have since been fitted to the car, that is now washed.

It's looking a lot better there and I threw on some spray wax too. Probably a bit much for a 29-year-old Daewoo but here we are.

I've also since repaired the boot lock, which kept trying to fall off. The little metal clip that holds it in, had removed itself. It has since been reattached.

Finally got around to replacing the ignition coil and the lead connecting it to the distributor. Both were damaged and bodged by previous owners in some form.

Runs 100% better than it did. Still got the other leads to do and the plugs, when I get the chance.

Finally, as seen in the dog thread, it is now Spaniel approved - I have since ensured it doesn't smell of said spaniel.

I think that's everything up to speed. I'm likely looking to sell it as well, as much as I do like it, I could do with the money to settle a bill on the Fabia.

Very good.

Give me a shout if you’re looking to sell. Might be able to work something out.
