Another day, another dollar as they say, mincing about windswept fields etc in January must have some advantages? Yes!

First a teaser before the main event:

And today's star prize:

Hello!

Unlicensed since 1991, this BEIGE crab was obviously loved at some point judging by the landcrab owner's club stickers in the window. It is complete but rusty, who knows what horrors lurk!

That said if anyone (Keef!?) want to get involved with saving it, I have been working for the landowner today, so it's not necessarily a total lost cause.

Number plates look new!! Maybe someone intended great things, then had a reality check!

Are you asking for help Pog or offering to ask the landowner on someone else's behalf?Chrome looks quite good and it does have a tow bar, but bootlid and doors look worse than Reckless' :(

The Day of the Crabz! I saw one on the North Circular earlier. Wasn't you MrB was it?

The latter. I have enough on my plate! But if you know someone who make use of it if only for parts, then I'm happy to liaise with the owner. Might be spring/summer before you could get it out mind! The access is a bit soggy & lumpy.

Thanks. I'll put out some enquiries.Roughly where is it?

Hey Keef, maybe the fuel tank will be ok?

:-)

If it looks as if it might be scrapped I'd definately be interested in the tank, the boot handle and maybe the towbar and front and rear bumpers.

Anyone know the difference between the Austin and Wolseley bumpers. I think they are just a bit narrower, but might be the same.

Aquisition of a Nokia N95 (£0.00, value) means I can start taking pics of old ruins whilst out and about again.

They say that white is the "in" colour at the minute, seems to be so in the world of shite too.

First up this delightfully horrible Trumpet:

And then some spots to get Fred's knickers wet...

Some sort of Transit captive breeding programme?

There was actually a fourth one in the garden too, could not get in to snap it and didn't want to hang a bout in this part of town!!

^ Some very hot Tranny action there - even puts San Franscisco to shame.

That's pretty much the gold standard of wheel choice, right there. Dodgy hubcaps on one, dodgy alloy on the other. I'd hope they were different sizes too?
Posted

Both just trims aren't they? I had 13" versions of the gold ones on my Cherry in 1988.Impressive fleet they have.

It *looks* like an MG Metro alloy, but I bet it's not.....

First Transit I've ever seen with 4-stud wheels - Capri axle, maybe?

Posted

According to doovla, that one is a 2.0 petrol one, maybe the pez flavours with low weight ratings got less studs??

Fred? FRED? FREEEEEEEEEDD!!!

Posted

Single wheel trannies had 5 studs with a low-dish wheel, IIRC.

H.Sceptre's truly beautiful Maxi.

It has a really proper 'old car' smell too. Lush.

And sharing THOSE doors, here's a Wolseley LandCrabz seen on the M1 today.

CLASS.

The free legendary Maxi.

(You do know it can never be scrapped ? )

Great small selection of snaps Pog, Thanks for popping them up

Disappointingly, the Carlton is down as a 3-litre with doovla.

I thought it might be a Lanchester too, but they shared a lot of the body with Daimlers, and I never heard of a Lanchester being coachbuilt into a DHC, the Daimlers were more of a prestige brand at that point and it makes more sense that someone would convert one of those... Very interesting none the less. looks to be Dutch-registered, perhaps Michiel can tell us more??
