Sell your sister to me and then she can become mad and you'll become an aunty still with your daft old car (don't use that as a sales line though). Great way for me to get her in the family way, and I could lend her back to you for baby sitting duties and whatnot.

Somebody please buy his Bluebird so he doesn't have to go without a leg over!

Apologies for the phone-photos, but here's what Abby bought yesterday:

She hopes to pick it up next week. She also lives in hope that it won't attract the attention of "the kind of strange men that seem to like shite old cars"... I think she's been lurking on here :wink:

Hey, that's a little belter. Taxed/MOT'd I take it?

Posted

Looks nice - though part of me is a little disappointed that she didn't plump for a Princess.

So, do you have to deliver this car to her to return the favour?

Posted

12 months MOT, 6 month tax not too bad for £500ish.

I think the door bottoms have been helped along with filler and the gearbox is noisy, but she seems ready to do any work (well, pay someone to) should needs be.

Her boyfriend has been won over by it too, so no domestics either! Bargain!

Ian, I hope not, its over by you somewhere... Wisbech?

I thought it looked like a local car (for local people). :)

Nice work!, That's a nice colour for them as well, It great to hear about young girls buying shite cars, That will turn a lot more heads then a Saxo, Corsa, Fiesta etc will ever do.

So, just a recap...

* twin sisters

* kinky boots

* allegros

I think that is pretty much ticking all the boxes.

The Psychology department I work for runs a Dutch twin register - once a year we publish an er, infozine for the registered twins and their families containing stuff about our research and some 'human interest' articles - I smell an opportunity for a nice article & photo!

You should do this, Michiel - we will happily proofread the draft for you...

My car is back woo-hoo! I walked 2.5miles (not bad going when you're this fat) with an excitable terrier and an oncoming troop of 500 spitting swearing teenagers. I didn't get stabbed or robbed and got to the garage in one piece! Everything seems ok so far, but need to take it on a good run really. The advisories were for no reverse light (but its a manual switch jobbie, that does work), rear wheel bearings and an oil leak, but he didn't go into that, and I've not noticed anthing :roll: If I wasn't so shy I'd have asked :oops:

The other Allegro in the family has caused my dad much shame (he's a Morgan man (three-wheeled variety) and none of his friends can understand what he's done to have us turn out this way!) and is causing Abby worry because of a noisy gearbox. We're thinking its a diff bearing, it's noisiest when accelerating in 3rd and 4th... sound about right? Lord knows what the cure will be... get it fixed or find a replacement. If we go down the replacement route will we need a complete engine and box?

Hopefully she'll be sending me some pics of it soon and I'll post them up here.

I doubt you'll need an engine if it's box related and a gearbox shouldn't be too hard to expensive or hard to find.

Put some thicker oil in it. That halfords classic green oil is best.

I wouldn't worry too much about the whining anyway- they all do it!

Just remembered.. if it is the diff I think they can be removed from the gearbox without taking the engine and box out... I think, anyway..

Yesh, you are quite correct. A series diffs can let loose and do a great deal of damage, I'd advise getting it looked at pronto.
