Live! Car collection. A return ticket to Fife mate.

The Astro is gone. Hardly used it and when I did it always needed petrol. The only vehicle I've ever had with a fuel evaporation issue when cold. Unfortunately WeeWee is too far away to top it up without my knowledge, so it's away. I don't need a car, Mrs Cade has the 500x, I have me company Transit and my bike, and a scooter, but there is a space.. and we can't have that.

Train booked for Saturday. 7 1/2 hours and 3 changes, then 250 miles home. Luckily they've just built a train station 3 minutes from my house. It's not a Volvo. I may need RAC.

See that YT vid by WanderingTurnip? RAC have let him down big time... 48hours to recover his vehicle!

Safe travels!

And it's go. A short walk to a shiny, empty new train station that has stolen my dog walk. Stage 1 of 4, and I find out that Edinburgh to Carlisle is closed and it'll be a bus. Hmm.

Breakfast was coffee. No pics.

Lucky pants. Check.

Few token basic tools. Check

Insurance in place. Check

Breakdown cover. Check.

Bored already. I had no idea this train seems to go to Edinburgh via Inverness. Could have swam it quicker.. need coffee and a vape, still off the fags. If the shit hits the fan and I'm on the side of the M6 at 1am, I'll be needing one. Need to buy some bike magazines in John Menzies. Are they still about two quid?

If you want to have a look while in the shop then yes. If you actually want to take it away with you then it's a lot more 😄

Forth rail bridge achieved.  It's a tradition to throw a coin into the Forth from the train. But I've gone cashless..  and the windows don't open anymore. Another happy childhood memory trashed by the relentless modern world. 🫤

2 questions are in my head. Why are flat whites smaller, and why do they have stones on the railways.

Posted

Same volume of caffeine but less overall liquid.

Then drops to a cortado for even less milk.

The stones are ballast to stop the sleepers and track moving.

For reference any window can be opened if you smash it hard enough🤣

Bonne chance with the collection.

Thanks, new thoughts are forming. I disagree with the flat white thing though. I want caffeine and moar.

And an extra free shot.

£8.80 for a bike magazine and a bottle of coke .. the 4 quid for a lilliput coffee.  That's 3 quarters of a years tax..

On the road train now. Someone can't spell Volvo. Air conditioning is ace though, and I'm mesmerised by the mirrors, although they vibrate more than a DR650s.

No one has even hazarded a guess on what I'm travelling so far for 😁. Shocked

BIKE magazine was on the floor below me at the last job. They all used to work under a precariously mounted fairing hung from the ceiling; whenever a breeze came through it moved around too much for my liking.

I'm very pleased that my subscription was free with spending a month as a Lloyds customer, cause the only article half well written was a context free extract from Itchy Boots' book.

Also, since when were bikes priced as a monthly payment?

I could never do that.. car, yes. Bike. No way. Far to personal  to rent .

Yutong is OK. Bit of pitching from the suspension,  seats not great. Engine seems to pull well, even fully loaded and the aircon ,again , is top notch. Been checking the specs and it's a Daf donkey and a ZF box. The display that is telling me the time, relative humidity, outside temp, inside temp and not to smoke is squint. Poor quality control... no rattles though, but a greetin bairn might be masking them. Maybe standard from the factory.

Made the mistake of buying a couple of small bottles of drink from a filling station near papworth Everard the other day.

Cost me nearly £6!😱

If I was to go proper consumer advice, I would recommend a Kassboher Setra over a Yutong.

Above those two,  a train and top of the list, a car.

On the M74 noo, and sidewind control is very poor. I hope it's that, and not what the drivers been sipping out his flask.

This is hell.  My arse is numb, my knees are seizing up and I can only stretch my left leg, my right knee is rammed against the seat in front. I need coffee and a vape. Can't for another hour.

Bah.

White Rover 220?

No. I did get a little bit happy at the station, where I saw a sign saying  "Metro. Free."

I thought it's been a while ,but ARG must have had some stock left over.

Sadly, after investigating, it was a newspaper.

Carlisle achieved. Fake Volvo was early,  so had a wander around. Grabbed a Costa (bleurgh) and on the next train to Preston.
