Kiltox Posted Thursday at 09:15 Author Posted Thursday at 09:15 This is working but does look shit. Would recommend. F1 Autocentres has a deal for 15% off 4 tyres bringing a set of Uniroyals down to £300 - cheapest decent tyres I’ve found so far. CGSB, wuvvum, privatewire and 2 others 5
SiC Posted Thursday at 10:47 Posted Thursday at 10:47 Hard to say for no at that price as a general half decent tyre.
Kiltox Posted Thursday at 10:51 Author Posted Thursday at 10:51 Kumho KH52s are £50 less and get better reviews, thoughts?
SiC Posted Thursday at 11:01 Posted Thursday at 11:01 Having had both I'd side towards Rainsports as being better tyres. Kumho are decent for your average commuter runaround (like the set I put on the E320 I had/now cookiesouthwest) but I don't rate them for good handling. loserone 1

Supplier suggested its normal wear and tear. Given the 40 odd part worns of various ages I've fitted didnt and don't have any cracks in them I just going with the kumhos being shite. It's matching the fabric so it's one step above the shit looking pins people usually use so not too terrible. Kiltox 1
Kiltox Posted yesterday at 10:35 Author Posted yesterday at 10:35 Anyone got any tips on how to find out for sure what type of battery should be in the Vel Satis? It has a 096 in at the moment, which needs replacing. Tayna says it should be a 115 which is quite a bit bigger (but shorter) - also recommends a 110 as an alternative. GSF also recommends a 115 ECP try to sell me a 096 which is presumably why it's got one in
beko1987 Posted yesterday at 11:22 Posted yesterday at 11:22 096 will be too small. I fell foul of this in the qashqai (good deal on the size, the spec was still decent enough)and ended up with some spare room in the engine bay 😂 I'd go 115. I'm getting away with it as my car isn't too electrically heavy*, you'd notice it on a vel shatis eventually I'd imagine. Kiltox 1
Kiltox Posted yesterday at 12:00 Author Posted yesterday at 12:00 Will collect a 115 from GSF and see if it fits, easier to return if it doesn’t. Clio is getting some Uniroyal goodness tomorrow. SiC, IronStar and dome 3

Rainsports are one of my go-to tyres. Very good in the wet (duh) and pretty good in the dry. They are quite soft so you don't get the mileage you might do on a Contisport or similar, but the significantly lower price more than offsets that.

It’s the bias towards wet that puts me off a little for a car I’ll primarily be kicking the cunt out of in the dry, but they do seem better then most other options at the same price point MrBig 1
loserone Posted yesterday at 12:19 Posted yesterday at 12:19 Whilst they are mostly fine in the wet, they're certainly not an all season tyre and are very much a summer tyre. I don't think you'll have any issues with em. Kiltox 1

I've got an 096 in the C Class (was originally an 019), that's a 3-litre V6 diesel with reasonably complex electrics and it's been absolutely fine. beko1987 1
Kiltox Posted yesterday at 12:28 Author Posted yesterday at 12:28 Have also ordered an AC pressure switch for the Shatis to see if it fixes it IronStar, beko1987 and dome 3
Kiltox Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Can confirm that 096 is the right battery - though there's a little spare room it definitely won't take a 115. beko1987 1
Kiltox Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago Replaced the Vel Satis AC pressure sensor and still have no air con but can see the pressure using my scan tool now - and it’s low (but not zero). Wonder if a regas m8 would now fix it 🤔 Another issue I need to look at is that the passenger side window and mirror don’t work. With it being both of them I worry that the door loom is damaged 🙈 beko1987 1
