Legendary Collection Thread

It's time to embark on a collection thread that will make me travel to the end of the British isles and back again, hopefully in the space of just this one day. Will there be peril, will there be FTP? You will find out soon!

At least we are starting our journey in the lap of luxury.

We've made it with 10 minutes to spare! Good old Newcastle Central, starting point of many shite collection adventures. Had to get my tickets from the ticket machine for the first time, not sure why e-tickets weren't an option.

Today's sustenance. Can confirm Scotch Egg contained an egg.

For 5 quid you really can't complain, I don't know why anyone would choose anything other than Sainsbury's meal deal at Newcastle Central. Would probably cost you the equivalent of two Peugeot 106s at Greggs.

It'll be fine. I only need two trains to my destination and I'm already on the first, on time.

So now that I jinxed myself there...

Getting closer to York.

Chodspeed. We turned the temp down today in the Sarf so you wouldn't suffer thermal shock 😁

I wouldn't mind getting some warmth back, I'm anticipating the A/C to work in the new acquisition!

Approaching Peterborough. Fortunately not our destination today. The last car I bought here was the Citroen C6, the new car could actually be considered a direct competitor which sold even worse in the UK.

Correction, I bought the C6 in Bradford. The E39 540i Touring was bought here, which I should really get ready for an MOT.

Few minutes late. I should have enough time to change trains once at Kings Cross hopefully.

Not sure if I ever switched trains between Kings Cross and Pancras but I recon I'll manage with the time I got!

Until then I'm entertaining myself with period road tests of the car. What did they mean by this?

And there we are, apparently chose the long way around but found Platform 12 with a few minutes to spare. Might be the first time I'm a South Eastern customer, train is packed naturally but window seat acquired.

Should be at our final destination in about 90mins, apparently the birthplace of Britain's favorite lunch snack?

If we are blind guessing what car is being collected , I say Peugeot 605?

I feel like the title made it so obvious that dropping hints wouldn't be necessary!

From the title change… Honda Legend?

Could it be? We'll find out in about 40 minutes!

Just passed through Folkestone. This is actually where the car lived most of its life before it was collected a few weeks ago to go through its first test in 2 years.

The big question is do you go up the east side or the west side?

Both are about the same in terms of time... West Coast is a prettier route but East Coast is essentially autopilot.

I will actually make my way back via London. I may or may not use the opportunity for viewing a vehicle with complicated ownership circumstances I've had my eyes on for a few months...

Meanwhile, we are passing the white cliffs of Dover. Will this turn into an international collection mission after all?

Could it be?

No, although this A8 and today's acquisition do share the ability to drive all 4 wheels, only that one of them is significantly more sophisticated in its execution.

We've almost arrived at our final destination, the pretty little (almost) seaside town of Sandwich.

But we aren't collecting a car from the prettier neighborhoods, oh no!

Our car is waiting in the dodgy part of town.

Is that like a bit of a sandwich where the bread is slightly mouldy? 😀 Car looks great though, hope you have a FTP-less trip back.
