Drives very nice indeed! Needs a bit of a tidy up but overall very happy.

looks alright that

Drives nice, couple of niggles I need to sort which are typical for this model of X5, but I have a habit of spending ££££ making cars nice lol

Drove it back about 6 miles, very nice kickdown, Plenty of power and very smooth delivery, gearbox is silky smooth.

I shall start tidying it up over the weekend.

Diesel 🤨

Apart from that, it looks pretty tiday and certainly very useful.

I have driven a couple of these and they do drive quite nicely.

Yep 3 litre diesel, I can do a lot of mileage so Diesel suits me.

it’s certainly comfy enough and plenty powerful.

Needs a good clean up, which I shall do! Chap that owned it transported cars (trailer was part of the package originally but I did not want it) so it needs a good tidy/cleanup all round!

From my pal…

Once I put new brake shoes and bearings on, and redone the lights then about £2200. As it stands I want £1700 mate

I quite like these. Guy I work with has a diesel one of a similar age that his wife drags up and down to Glasgow six times a week.

Please remove the M badge and throw it into the nearest skip immediately.

Same goes for the blacked out kidney grilles, and the number plate surround!

The M badge is all over it, including on the steering wheel! I’ll be putting it back to as factory as possible.

First run out in my tenure, 130 miles.

Wheel wobble quite bad at 55-60-65 and when breaking so guessing the wheels need balancing badly, and it likely needs wheel alignment.

I’m hoping it’s just balancing needed anyway…

Put the X5 through the car wash!

Looks better!

Have installed a ‘Car Tablet’ as I was going to change the head unit for a 3rd party …….. THEN I saw what an absolute ballache of a job it would be running cabling from the back of the car (amps in the boot) to the front behind the dash!

Sod that!

Pics of install later!

One of the most annoying niggles, Drivers door window if you send it all the way down.. it wont come back up without a fight - it seems to get stuck on something in the pillar of the door - a screw driver in there and poke about whilst teetering the switch gets it back up. So dont put the window all the way down.

Just dont keep finger on the unlock button otherwise all of the windows go down and then your stuck getting drivers side window back up (tools in the car for such the occasion)

Its on the 'To Do' list.

First jobs to get done is Engine Service, gearbox Service, Something is causing a wheel wobble around 60, and Thermstat & a re-map/economy map.

Hopefully booking it in next week (IF the Audi has gone :( )

Frayed Bowden cable in the regulator?

Not sure yet.. I can actually see the glass physically get stuck in the pillar of the door where there is lining, on the inside. Like a felt lining. Bottom of the to do list for now.

Pan-roof opens, but does jam up if you go to far back. You can get kits to repair it so long as you can get the roof lining out. Not too urgent on this one... it does have an emergency close under the plastic bit of where the interior light sits. Again, bottom of the list lol.  I dont open sunroofs often anyway.

Had this issue on our Passats pan roof, a good soaking with squirty lithium grease on the runners free'd it up and got it running smoothly again.

Cars scrubbed up well mate, looking good 😎.

Remember thinking these looked awful when they were new, but they've aged nicely.

Same! Theyve grown on me for certain, still not keen on the X3 though.

I think this is the best looking series of X5 also.

I fitted one of these to my daughters 1 series, they are pretty good for what they cost.

Does the job for now! And saves me having to rip the interior out (no kidding) to fit a 3rd party unit lol

Ahh reminds me of my old gal. Mine though had a drink problem - being petrol/LPG.

It developed a parasitic drain like many of them did. To get round it I fitted a remote battery disconnect.

The driver’s door handle carrier was broken - another common fault. An easy job once I’d broken into the car. 😮

It was a lovely driving position and was a good tow car.  I do miss an E53 X5.
