THAT is a calendar shot.

Strikes me this thread is FULL of calendar shots 👍

With pie off the menu, I was up for checking out somewhere else but my friend who's joined me is wanting to be back for Tuesday it seems. So we have had to make our way south.

Doing the math I'll be a few miles short of target,  so no pie and lacking miles.  I'd be lying if I wasn't a little disappointed but this is outweighed by so much win so far.

All of the previous stuff mentioned in this thread and the fact the little VP has cracked 950 miles in 4 days at mostly high RPMs with just the need of an oil top up is pretty good going. What a little trooper.

Ah, that makes sense now - I was wondering why Loch Lochy was on the right!

Not sure if the burger van has gone now, mind you.

Final run today of Carlisle to leighton buzzard via windermere, now back at the workshop. The total miles is 1266. That's annoyingly close.

Thw car then, well quite a bit more oil was used as i was happy pressing the car on for longer stints, but leakage is clearly an issue. But appart from taking a wheel off to look for the braking noise. Nothing else was needed. No coolant topping up, no overheating or ignition problems. It just ran and ran, the auto box is a bit crappie on these things however today I realised that it being an auto and comfy made this trip very relaxing. I done at least 1150 of the miles and had no problems jumping straight back in after a toilet and coffee stop.

I'll do a little more tinkering and enjoy it a little longer then it's going to be finding a new home for someone else to take adventures in (a shiter has placed interest)

What a great little car.

The venerable big bore A series yet again proves its worth. A humble thing but surely one of the great engines.

These really are peak ADO16.

The world was a better place when people bought these and not Range Rover Evoques and Mercedes GLAs.

My wife's parents saved up all their spare cash to be able to buy a car. A Morris 1300. They thought they'd made it in life.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that nobody, ever, had bought one of these new. With actual money that was theirs.

I don’t fancy 1993 miles in the Cortina but I reckon 2594 in the Senator would probably be quite easy.

Cortinas were decent cars for long distances (mk3 on except 1300s).

My Dad had a 3,4 and 5. The 5 , a 2.3GL was especially good. We regularly did trips from Kent to the Lake District and Scotland.

I agree, I used to regularly drive my Mk5 to Glasgow and back from Reading. The seats were especially good. Mk4 seats aren’t though and I’m much older, with a bad back, hence why I’d rather not.
