Yes of course anything post 2009 has to have a DPF.

But the car is 2006 and the X Type was finished by 2009.I had a 2005 Fiat that didn't,a2007 one that did,a 2007 Honda that didn't, and a 2010 Renault that didn't either.In the case of the Fiat and Renault, different versions of the same engine, didn't and did respectively.Hence asking.

I think and don't quote me on this, the 2 litre doesn't have one. but the 2.2 does.

Might be best asking on the social media groups. Or if you can find a VIN decoder.

My 55 plate 2006 x type 2.0 diesel didn't have a dpf.  Not sure if any did?

Anyway,son came and collected it and took it to Derby,leaving the BMW at ours for me to look at and decide it's future.Messaged him to see what he thinks,and says he loves it.Aaah....

Good that he loves it, they are very underrated things. Plenty of good forums on fb.  An ICarsoft diagnostic kit for JLR stuff is very, very useful.

Passed MOT today.He'd bought some new bonnet struts for it when I told him they were a failure.Well,if it fell on the testers head,it might be! Anyway, another useable car for 500 quid.
