Me too, right up to 2006, by 1990 I had owned a 1986 Cavalier GL and  around 1991 a 1986 Sierra Ghia and each time far preferred a 1982 Cortina. No contest in my opinion, easiest choice ever.

I know exactly what I’d buy, because I did ! E483 MMF, a Ford Sierra 1.6 GL . I paid exactly £2000 as it was my old company car  that had spent a year as a pool car. It had 70,000 miles and was immaculate because a mechanic ( who shouldn’t have been using it) from Charles King Ford in Bedford scraped it from front to back on a wall, the transport manager made a fuss about the colour match so it was completely resprayed. It was dark metallic red, as soon as I got it I de-badged it a put some XR4x4 alloys on it, Mrs N drove it for 18 months and we made a couple of hundred when I moved it on- I’d pay  seven or eight Grand for it now!

Back then was my Mk5, which I got in 1988 and practically rebuilt from 1990 to ‘92 and moved on, stupidly, a couple of years later. My current Mk4 I’ve only had about 4 years.
