tooSavvy Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 As MrGetz takes a bow, exiting stage left... A new opera is opening *"AVAS".... *We'll see 🔧⚙️👍 🚙💨 AnnoyingPentium, Cavcraft, privatewire and 1 other 1 3
Ghosty Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 I'd like to play the 'I understood a tooSavvy post' card, but that works on the assumption that AVAS is referring to a Vauxhall, and isn't a new acronym that Savvy has devised to fool us. AnnoyingPentium, Supernaut, tooSavvy and 2 others 1 2 1 1
tooSavvy Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 Just left a message on the Vmx @North Tyneside Council 'parking control' because the parkies use a PDA, with all the Resident permit holder reg numbers on..... If they don't have my NEW number I'll likely get a ticket. Phoning is my 'get out of jail' card 😎. Today we will mostly be..... Exploring dash settings 😵💫 🚙💨 privatewire, loserone, Lacquer Peel and 6 others 9
tooSavvy Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 I'm going to have to sort the Fuel Filler... Unlocked knob/untethered & no latch on flap = nil security. I lost SuziQ filler cap because 'forgot' 😕... Jim Bell and privatewire 2
UltraWomble Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I like them, but the one we had was shit (numerous EGR and DPF faults). Beware these like to spontaneously human AVAS combust and were featured in the 2009 Randles & Hough Book (Fontana Press) Jim Bell, BorniteIdentity, Hawkeyethenoo and 2 others 1 4
tooSavvy Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 My life.. in AVAS hands 😯 I have a mental 'check list' of major criess to encounter AVAS... I'll tick them off, as they DON'T happen 😉 🚙💨 privatewire 1

Assuming you're talking about that Astra ( I really don't know), the flap is locked when the car is locked and unlocked when the car is unlocked. It's part of the central locking. loserone and tooSavvy 1 1
tooSavvy Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 ^ ^ ^ ...... On my 08 🤔 Doesn't look to have any barbs or notches/cutouts (unless it's 'hidden' in the hinge) 🔧⚙️ #Tested... In pub carpark = NO locked flap/car plip locked OK 😕 🚙💨 Jim Bell 1
tooSavvy Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 Been 'on tour'... 🚙💨 rm36house, Lacquer Peel, Jim Bell and 1 other 3 1

tooSavvy Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 MustardMitt... Has 'Whoosh..!..ability' 😎 Whilst meandering up the road into Weardale, yesterday, I encountered the stock-chicaine of Tractor/Cart... Plenty of forward vision, clear straight = No Tractor... My 9k Auto was a bit learry, mindful of Pain@Pump 😕. Nice to have a 'bit 'o boot' again. MUST pay attention in town >> it's a creeper = you don't know it's doing 40 😯 I definitely hit the 'look back into the carpark & smile' spot >> estate shape [black glass] is epic ♥️👍 🚙💨 Jim Bell, Lacquer Peel, Matty and 1 other 4
tooSavvy Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 BodgeFest© begins.... 😎 MrGetz had a cupholder, between the seats could take a bottle... AVAS, sadly, is a bit more skinny 😕 Having consulted eBay and not found 'quite' what I wanted [@£14.99!!] I opted for the cheap/but OK option. Goodie ✔️ 🚙💨 privatewire, Lacquer Peel, Marshall2810 and 2 others 5
tooSavvy Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 Got a fairly substantial wodge of 'back MOTs + Parts bills'.... Air Con was overhauled/regassed July 2018 .... Sadly, Mr Punter got a **Cam Belt Roulette** flag from his regular MOT/Servicing Garage >> Dec 2019 = job not shown in any invoice 😲🔧😵💫 The belt off MrGetz (original 17yr @62k) was like reading barcode.... Think time to get my greasy spanner on the phone.... ✔️ 🚙💨 Jim Bell, privatewire and Matty 3
tooSavvy Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 No paranoia here.... however, genuine horror stories of rad/auto fluid leak failures 😵💫 An hour or two lying under the front end might be a valuable investment.. 🤔 🚙💨 AnnoyingPentium, Dan302, Jim Bell and 1 other 4
tooSavvy Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 I'll be at my garage 9AM..... Cambelt kit + aux belt kit, to be fitted. See when they are free to do the work. ..... Also ask about fitting a 'dry' tranny cooler, nipping off the pipes into the rad 👍 It's all fuc#ing expense 😕 🚙💨 Jim Bell 1
loserone Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Holler next time you are passing, I have a nice skinny stainless steel bottle which will suit this fancy new car down to a tee tooSavvy and Lacquer Peel 1 1

Literally seems a pointless endeavour given your current one probably is a similar age. You’d be better off buying a new one if you’re worried and fitting it, else you’re just at the same starting point again. tooSavvy and Jazoli 1 1

Agreed, instead of pissing about with spoilers (on an Zafira??) you could have put the cash towards a new oil cooler. tooSavvy 1
