That is far from being pretty thing, that interior and price makes me want it.

The main issue I've always had with the Lybra is the headlights, which don't fit the design well. They make the car look like that Nissan based retro kitsch built by Mitsuoka in Japan...

Morris Marina coupé 1974

With a gearbox that has recently been overhauled, but which was apparently not done right because the box is now making some weird noises. Also, the car is currently in Hungary and won't be back here until March next year.

German Kurzzeitkennzeichen plates.

I was educated there. Thank you. I have read about export plates but these seem to be for a shorter period.

These ones can be used for a max of five days iirc.

Too many piano bits left inside.

No price!

Zie omschrijving = see description, and there the seller states he wants "only enthusiasts who know the value" to respond.

A Chevrolet... Cosworth:

Quote

The Cosworth Vega Twin-Cam engine is a 122 cu in (1,999 cc) inline-four with die-cast aluminum alloy cylinder block and Type 356 aluminum alloy, 16-valve cylinder head with double overhead camshafts (DOHC) held in a removable cam-carrier that doubles as a guide for the valve lifters. Each camshaft has five bearings and is turned by individual cam gears on the front end. The camshafts, water pump and fan are driven by a fiberglass cord-reinforced neoprene rubber belt, much like the SOHC Vega 2300 engine. The cylinder head has sintered iron valve seats and cast iron valve seats. Race-bred forged aluminum pistons with heat-treated forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods enhance durability.[6]

I’m in Tenerife this week and as usual I’m idly browsing what treasures I could own if I lived here.

Hmm. Do we think these are really new and unregistered Yugos? Advert doesn’t really provide much confirmation. @IronStar

I would repatriate that in a heartbeat.

I think it’s possible that it really is an unsold car. Trim and engine suggest that it’s a late, just before the war model. Top one has GVX bumpers, which were originally made for top-spec US market models, and I think the bottom one has the same bumpers as UK market one that we didn’t get.

I know of a yellow cabrio in Spain, suggesting they were sold over there, but I can’t find any evidence of Spanish ads or any records of sales in Spain online. It was sold in 70 countries, so I think it’s safe to assume they indeed were.

Zastava did repatriate a bunch of bits from USA operation at some stage, but to my knowledge they never got any cars, as they were all sold by the point they got all the spares back. Cars were flogged at VERY steep discount to get them out the dealerships. Based off that, if they indeed had a dealership in Spain, they probably wouldn’t bother getting two cars back, as it’s just not worth the effort, and probably just cut their losses. Especially if cars were in Tenerife, which would make the whole operation even more costly.

I would love getting some better photos and the chassis numbers to see when were they made and if that could tell a bit more of a story.

EDIT:

Looking at the guy’s older listings, I found this, so the story seems very likely

Thriumph (sic) Herald 13/60

Should be a write off. Hard to see real extent but the damage looks heavy. Still want 4900€. Seeing that this is a 1970s car it could be one of the last produced.

It retains its original license plate and was regularly driven until the date of the accident. It has a valid ITV/roadworthiness certificate.
It has damage to the left rear side.
A rare and fun car to drive.
