Flat4 Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 This should be a collection thread but as I haven't seen the car in person yet, watch this space! This will involve multiple modes of transport and quite tight timings to meet my outbound connections. Praying no delays or the whole thing will collapse. Obligatory breakfast pic. Ham sandwich coz I couldn't be arsed making bacon. Hot cross bun coz why not. Cold brew coffee which I hadn't tried before. Okay but weird after taste. 6/10. Flat4 Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 First mode of transport for today is the Spaceship, coz Al's driving and that's his favourite. Beautiful morning so far! Coprolalia, grogee, privatewire and 1 other 4
Flat4 Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Next mode of transport for today š It has actually arrived early which is a good sign. Can't understand why it costs Ā£7.90 for a single but only 20p more, Ā£8.10 for a return....go figure. Hope not to need the return portion tho! privatewire, grogee, tooSavvy and 3 others 6
Split_Pin Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Good luck, it is indeed a fine day for a collection. Flat4 1
Flat4 Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Next mode of transport for today. A black cab to here. Was attempting to make an earlier connection but failed by about 3 minutes! New planned arrival time at the other end gives me an hour to make my final connection, which should be do-able, providing there's no hold ups en route š¤ There's a chap sitting behind me in the waiting area commenting that his Greggs big softie is "absolutely smashing. That's a belter!" š Now have a very plush window seat near the front, on my 2nd last connection of the day. Tickman, Dyslexic Viking, ProgRocker and 2 others 5
Rustybullethole Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 May your purchase be magnificent and your return journey a motoring delight. eddyramrod, 95 quid Peugeot and Flat4 1 2

Flat4 Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Made it with 10 mins to spare, before the gate closes š I think this might be my budgie. Cya when I'm back on the ground! Rightnider, big_al_granvia, Tickman and 4 others 7
Flat4 Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Took off 20 minutes late, landed bang on time - pilot had their foot down! š Now waiting for the taxi drivers sorting themselves out, to head over to the car. privatewire, Dyslexic Viking and Split_Pin 3
Flat4 Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Collection successful š 2001 Nissan Elgrand Highway Star 3.5 V6 petrol RWD with 8 very comfortable seats! Owned by a mechanic and has been very well cared for š Place your bets now as to how much fuel it uses on the way home! Rightnider, bigstraight6, Spiny Norman and 12 others 15
EyesWeldedShut Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Oooh that looks rather plush. One litre to get out of the carpark then another 60 to get you home Minimad5, Flat4 and big_al_granvia 3

Flat4 Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Made it to Carlisle to fuel the Ellie with Momentum after a brief stop at Charnock Richard to fill me with caffeine and egg sarnies š Planning for this to be my last stop before home, unless I start flagging. Fuel wise, it has averaged 25mpg so far. A little off my target of 30 so will see what I can do on the last leg š Running well aside from a highly alarming racket coming from the driver's front wheel. I don't think wheel bearing as it's not droning on the motorway, sounds more like something rubbing but it also squeaks at low speeds when steering. Not sure if the 2 are related but I'm thinking a back plate rubbing or contaminated/delaminated pads. They were done recently but I'm told Elgrands are heavy on their pads and you're doing well if you get a couple of years out of them. Caliper doesn't appear to be sticking as that side is no warmer than the other. Dyslexic Viking 1
Flat4 Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Finally home š Further updates later coz I am beat, as you can tell by the state of my parking! Think I found the cause of the noise tho... Bits of undertray š I'll be very glad if that's all it was! I fully expected to look underneath and see bits of exhaust hanging down. Dyslexic Viking, Tickman, Split_Pin and 2 others 5
