There are two James's - Peter D James was a Footman, but left and got his own place. I've been with both because I'm a tart.

I've always used Adrian Flux. Very competitive and excellent customer service. I was banned from driving about 10 years ago for speeding. When I got my licence back I was quoted £1000+ by nearly everyone for my TR7 convertible on a classic car, limited mileage policy. Flux did it for £400. Stayed with them ever since.

I've been using Confused.com for years. The other day I found out going direct to the insurers is actually cheaper everytime.

RH for me. I've been with them for years now, always paying circa £100 a year for 5,000 miles.

Might seem an unusual choice but I noticed the Co-Operative Bank has been coming up with some mega cheap quotes as of late. Well at least they did for me and my Dad.I was paying over £400 a year to Admiral for me and Mrs Parky to roll in a Seat Leon. Come renewal time, Admiral wanted a bit extra, yet Co-Op were happy to go £130 cheaper without any hassle. Similar for Parky Senior too. It could have been a limited period quest for market share but may be worth a shot?

I've found Lancaster to be the best for rusty old shitters like mine.

I've just in fact called Adrian Flux to confirm that I'm covered for continental travel in the Simca. As usual, exemplary customer service. I am covered at no extra cost and they will email me confirmation. Good service is so important in my book.

Cheers lads. Trying them all. The yello peril will ride again. :-) Well, smoke along a bit anyway.

I cant remember which of the 'supermarket/comparison' websites I used, but it was cheaper going through them rather than to the insurer directly for me, for whatever reason.

Hi, If you've more than one car then check the price of a admiral multi-car policy. It could (but isn't always) be cheaper.I've just put one of the Alpines back on the road and asked Footman James for a quote, they were nearly 160% of the AON renewal terms they gave me last july (although AON bought footman james, they will use the FJ brand going forward). So I looked around and Peter Taylor (aka bishops calway) got me the best deal.

I always find Lancaster Insurance the best for classics, mine are about £120/year each and have always made full use of the free Breakdown/Recovery service.Called them the other week during a break down on the South Circular, said they'd be there within the hour and actually turned up in about 9 minutes.

12 minutes so far. Spelt 'Colt' 'Mitsubishi' and 'Sapporo' for 10 of those. Despite insuring it through Aviva previously with no problems.14 minutes in - apparently it's a 2.4i 1987 model now. This had better be dirt cheap :-)16 minutes - 'sorry, it's under Colt Sir' 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh' ....and it's more than Aviva. On to the next.

I love that RH lot, their insurance always costs £120, and they have never taken a mileage figure for any of the several motors I have insured with them.
