I'm going to string this one out as it's reasonably local and doesn't involve any rail replacement buses trains.

Dawn at Grogee Towers and Tom is beside himself with excitement about the new conveyance. Meanwhile I'm at the end of my first cup of tea.

Mrs Grogee thinks I should make two cups of tea in bed at weekends because she brings me tea during the week. Wrong, obviously - she should just bring me tea all the time.

Mrs Grogee came up trumps and brought a 2nd cup of tea. I'm just wirelessly charging these biscuits up as they always taste better that way.

First things first, swimming lesson with Master Grogee. The changing rooms are infested with flies and the 'viewing area' is full of noisy kids running around. Welcome back to Everyone Active (TM)!

Next mode of transport: Seat Ibiza. I'd have preferred a Mk1 but beggars can't be choosers. @Cluffy is my co-pilot on this mission.

This thread appears to be more about food than cars, but that will change in about an hour.

Here's @Cluffy buying a Five Guys like the glutton he is (it was my idea).

And we're back. A pleasure dealing with @Skcat and good to see some shite being fixed on the road outside their house.

The Toyota is an absolute joy to drive. Very grown up. Light and easy controls, quiet, very comfortable ride (unlike an equvalent Honda) and seemingly capable of 50mpg+.

You can tell everything has been painstakingly designed - for function and cost. Its total lack of pretence is actually its charm.

Mrs Grogee wants the lacquer peel sorted out, which may or may not happen. My theory is that if I let it get really dirty, nobody will notice.

Jobs list: quite short really. I've got a few bits for an oil service, at which point I'll assess the underside for grot. I may try and tweak the steering wheel one spline to the left as it's slightly off-centre. Mr Kats advises a DPF clean which can be done through the temp probe by squirting in some snake oil, assuming the probe actually comes out without a fight.

And I'm not sure whether to adapt the existing sat nav which is very Japanese (but managed to guide me home ok) or install a modern Android & DAB thing in the double-din slot.

apply phone holder to off centre of the drivers swept area like a true private hire vehicle with an out-of-area wolverhampton plate
