D.HIRST IN PC SHOCK!

Clearly the rev. D Hirst let his brief mention in PC a couple of months back go to his head, so much so that he's got a whole page to himself in the new (May) issue. :D

Next stop the Wakefield Advertiser (and page 8 of the Sun)"Office worker charged over Charmant grass doughnut terror"

Crikey, I haven't seen it yet, didn't expect I'd be getting a whole page. Could you PM me a pic of it Seth? I'm going to buy it obviously. The last time I felt this famous was when Scottish children's folk music group "The Singing Kettle" had to change their guestbook to a screened one because I kept filling it up with absurd nonsense.

When I saw the thread title I expected to find that Hirst had been politically correct. I'm relieved to find it's not so!

Got it first thing yesterday, brilliant stuff man.My wee brother was also very impressed so much so he wouldnt give me the magazine until he'd finished reading it.

Nice work Hirst, enjoyed that!Incidentally I work at a Japanese Bank so if you ever wanted to know exactly what those stickers meant, get some bigger pics and I'll ask the guys at work!

Can someone scan the article and post it up?? I'm too tight to buy it!

Posted

Go out and buy it, in fact, buy ten. If it's really popular, they might just send me loads of money.

It's not out yet down here, I checked earlier. I thought Brighton was supposed to be a progressive, foward looking kind of place? Clearly Hirst in PC is too much for us southerners to handle.Hopefully by the time I get to work tomorrow night we'll be selling it

We've got it here in Hastings! Which is probably the most un-progressive town in the south east.

I never thought there'd be this much demand for some dross I blathered out of my type-hole. Perhaps I should put out some kind of incredibly overpriced hardback book, preferably with gold leaf page edgings.

You should try living this far south. I got March issue yesterday

Even here in the evil empire we are struggling to get this issue amid

the volcano chaos that appears to be happening in abroad. I have subcribed to PC for a while now and today I got this email:

*** IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE DELIVERY OF Practical Classics***

Dear Ian

As you may be aware there is significant disruption to air traffic movements across Europe due to the continuing activity of an erupting volcano in Iceland. This eruption has produced a cloud of ash which makes it dangerous for aircraft to fly. It is hoped that flying operations at some UK airports will resume during today, however, the major London airports are not yet re-scheduled to open and there is a massive backlog to be cleared before operations can get back to normal.

Unfortunately this disruption may affect the delivery of your next subscription copy of Practical Classics and means that it could be late in arriving. At this time we are unable to say when it will be delivered but we are working hard within the current restrictions to ensure that delivery is as soon as possible.

We will be continuing to monitor the situation very closely and further updates will be available on our website www.greatmagazines.co.uk/deliveries. We would strongly suggest you check this site on a regular basis for the latest information.

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time and please rest assured we are doing everything we can to resume normal deliveries as soon as possible.

Hey I actually saw it for sale today, so I bought it. Luckily the "Internet child groomer" photo of me is small and cropped. They wouldn't use the menacing-looking one.I bet loads of the "it'll never be a proper classic" crew are turning purple with rage that a 90s Nissan ended up in the magazine. In fact there's some fair old stuff in there to wind them up this month, 205 and a Sierra to boot! Very good issue I thought, despite my presence.Dunno if I'll do loads more writing as I imagine articles about the Kia Clarus are unlikely to have widespread appeal. Might do something though.

i read it whilst getting cigs in tesco.. :D i know i know im a tight b4stid

Hirst, I always pictured you looking and dressing like Midge Ure c1986.

I read it last night in Morrisons whilst buying deckchairs.

I wound up buying it too as there was a little bit on the letters page about great grandfather Teds "home made" car - seems he was a lying cnut.

EDIT:

OK, some more interweb searching reveals this:-

Certainly the name is the same as great grandfather Teds... I must do some more research.....

Nice article there D_Hirst. You've got an ability at writing stuff you know, given how much you dislike your job is it worth trying to make something more out of writing about obscure old cars? Its worked for other people. Not read much of the magazine but it looks pretty good otherwise. R5 vs Golf vs 205 looks interesting as does Sierra resto. Definate improvement of late.

Good work Hirst, I enjoyed Reading your piece.Am I the only one who thought the 205 looked a bit odd in the line up though?, you had a lovely early Renault 5, a tidy Golf and then a 'well used' 205 with rusty wheels and 150k on the clock, I would of thought that they would of found a better example to use?!.

This might help you Father Ted
