Pretty pointless trying to hide what I'm buying so:

4:44am

Poo count 1, hopefully that's it but who knows?

Let the games begin.

Did get some brekkie but will refuel when I can.

Suspect due to this hastily eaten brekkie. Coffee bags just 2 years or of date but they are GOWER coffee bags which I'm guessing is just normal coffee bags put in a pack with Three Cliffs Bay on it and a 50% premium. A view I can see with a ten minute walk. Still, they've lasted well and do make a nice coffee.

Didn't need to pay for parking anyway until I leave.

Time to buy chocolate instead.IMG_20230620_053127_185.thumb.jpg.bb7d7bb48dfc384deb35498bb97e7f91.jpg

No shops open.

Now got 4 changes to get where I want.

Joy.

But......

That's all part of the fun isn't it?

😱😱😱

Phase 2 commenced.

There's now a crying girl with her mother just in front of me on this carriage.

At 6am.

Welcome to Swansea.

Apparently original train not going past Cardiff as a "late change" to the booking.

Good of them to update that about 40 mins before we left.

Posted

Cardiff was an hour wait, that or I could have stayed on the train to get to Brizzle parkway and then another 4 changes just to get to Chester, and then a 4th train.

So grabbed a McDonald's, wasn't bad really. I get there 20 mins later but only the 1 change then

Poo count steady at 2.

That may change after said above event.

Cardiff jammed with tweens in cowboys boots waiting 12hrs too see Harold Styles ......

I thought he only went for women his mum's age?

Still, I'm sure they'll enjoy the hour of music* and 2 hrs of waffle.

I'm just guessing getting old, I smiled nicely at a young lady as I waited till let her down the stairs and she looked at me as if I was the most despicable human being on this planet.

Right, let's prepare for part 2.

4 changes from Cardif to Chester?  No wonder my daughter complained when she was a student about getting back to Miseryside.  2 more changes from Chester to Formby. And a couple of train replacement buses usually.

Yeah it could have been, but I took a slightly different option that only cost another 20 mins in time.

The Swansea to Chester train was pretty direct, think it just changed at Shrewsbury then actually took me near enough all the way to Birkenhead but they decided to cancel it at the last minute.

So other option was the 4 stop train from Cardiff/Brizzle through Birmingham/Crewe etc but it was a lot of waiting at each station whereas this one is a bit more direct.

At "trainporn" hub now, Crewe, en route to Chester then last change to "Berrrrrku'nnnneaaaaddd laaa" as one of the very heavily Liverpool accented furnace rebuilders used to call it.

Last time I was at Crewe it looked like they were trying to get it restored but now it just looks fucked, I suppose all the money is being (wasted) spent on HS2?

Maria has left her Starbucks cup here, but there's a slight aroma of piss and it has a fluid in it.

And I thought Chester was posh with the likes of @Cavcraft living here?

I've been to Billy's place, and it is indeed in a well to do area.  Not all of Chester is as nice.

Made it home fine and a big thanks to @DavidB for the painless transaction.

David is in the US of A at the mo so I was picked up by brother Terry who's an absolute top chap.

Lovely little area where he is as well, I believe it won village of the year a couple of years back? Port Sunlight was a real find as well, so pretty, reminds me of the old Llandarcy village before they bulldozed it for the M4.

Came home on 1/4 tank as well, I am impressed.

Lovely wafty experience but still actually handled well on the twisty roads of Wales.

Cruise was a delight and I forget how painless that makes a journey.

Bypass through Newtown was immense as well, getting stuck behind folk doing 40 in every NSL not so but they were easy to pass in the Merc, shifts when it needs to, just that nice kind of midrange that derv mercs like, don't rev it high, use the torque.

Just got to tax it oldskool style in a P.O tomorrow which will be a fun* experience no doubt.

Ironically drove past at least 3 speed cops all of whom made no effort to stop a tax dodger, must remember the good days.

Even better, found the newer logbook in the pack so we're all good to go legally now.

Right, let's put it to work, clearing the shed over mam's house is job one.Screenshot_20230621-130655.thumb.png.c5c3b0ef8de57926bb96c0b1361211b9.png
