retrogeezer Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 There are loads more here that I havn't had time to post up.... http://s664.photobucket.com/albums/vv4/ ... ?start=all
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Nice pictures! I particularly like the Fiat Camper and red Fiesta ones.
Minimad5 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 That guy's reaction in the mini is epic !Caption competition anyone ?Also that Mk1 Fiesta is Sooo nice. Jealous.
retrogeezer Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 There appears to be a child's cot parked on the road, in the vanette picture, is that usual in that part of town?It was outside a 2nd hand shop!Update coming up shortly....
retrogeezer Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 A few more from the last week or so.... These were in Ironbridge: This is one of those new water cooled jobbies: Actually parked UNDER the bridge - result! Moggies were about 200 yards apart: Spot of the day in the Blist Hills museum car park: This has appeared just up the road from my mate...I heart CRX's: This was tidy and original: eye popping: Lidl car park throws up another spot: Not sure about the pink steering wheel cover:
Guest Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Hey, good to see some Crewe pictures. I used to run a recording studio on the Gresty road near the Mornflake oats factory. Are they knocking down the M Club? It's crazy in there - like a moribund urbex, as half the building's used for performing and the rest is a closed off cinema that you can't get to.There's a couple of Danburys near me, and a bloke my dad works with has bought one. I'm trying to get him to come to Cholmondeley so we can be sufficiently 'scene' and have cups of tea and toast on demand Weirdly, whenever this Danbury appears, a salmon pink Isuzu VehiCross hoves into view about 3 minutes later. Not sure what that's about. I never seem to have my camera when it turns up either.
maxpower Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 could the guy in the crewe mini be the love child of the late ronnie lane? certainly looks like him
retrogeezer Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 Doubt this will ever drive again... Boy racers car but it was tidy.. An old woman was driving this! The sun brought out the cabrios... Car boot campers... Another Rickman Ranger!! I've saved the best until last, I spotted these through the hedge in someones garden. If a car dies they just keep it I think! I have never seen an N reg Scirocco...must be one of the very first ones and it's been laid up since 1987! I couldn't get great photos unfortunately but these are what I took: I am really rather pleased with this photo...
brammy777 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Blimey, what a fantastic site you stumbled upon. I havent ever seen one that early either! Looks a tad beyond saving, to say the least. Considering the amount of moss on that Passat, its sure held up well.Poor Capri, dont see many MKIIIs on a T plate anymore.
barrett Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Awesome, thats what I call 'rat look'. Actually, the owner should flog these on a VW forum, i'm sure someone would be mental enough to take 'em on.
retrogeezer Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 here's a few more from the last couple of weeks and a trip to the scrappy: Hudson Super 6 (apparently!) Tatty Land Rover: Track day prepared CRX (great cars these) Nissan NX100 The following were at Mcguinesses: Might have posted this before: Nissan QX - what a shame! Left hooker 3 series: Reliant Rebel: Walker bodied P100: And a got a few bits off this bluey:
brammy777 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Wow, Ive never seen a camper P100 before. That looks ace, but I guess its not moved for a hell of a long time.Shame about the Bluebird, the prefacelift ones with two tone look great, arguably the best looking ones in the T12/72 range.
retrogeezer Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 yeh, it only had 48,000 on the clock too...
PatrickMcRebel Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Can't believe they've scrapped that Rebel. Only a handful of true Rebel vans left (Most have been converted to estates as some stage).
Jack_Harpers_Teeth Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 There's a Rebel in a scrapyard over here in Luxton too: Poor old thing .
RedSparrow Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Where are all these mouldy Rebels coming from lately?!Not seen a 'saloon'(?) type one before - ta!
retro80sboy Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I saw those beasts at McGuinesses last month, are the TR7/MGB/Lada Riva estate still there?Didnt see those Escorts though, id love that estate.
Volksy Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I'm not sure what happens at Mcguines's, any interesting old chod seems to get dumped in the carpark for a while before migrating into the yard.. Do they get a last chance there to see if someone wants to buy them complete?
whitevanman Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I would love that camper body ...... I could put it on stands and drive under it or the pickup body, etc, etc just like Thunderbird 2
GJR 11L Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Hey Patrick, you missed a chance for double anorakage points there mate! Not only is the Rebel van a rare beastie, it's a 700 van which makes it even less common than this posh bird: Random bit of trivia, I think that Patrick's Rebel now wears the doors that used to live on the car in the scrapyard near the cemetery gates, as shown in JHT's piccie there. I'm probably wrong though......
retrogeezer Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Didnt see those Escorts though, id love that estate.they might have been owned by people getting stuff from the yard.
PatrickMcRebel Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hey John It's still alive is that Rebel van, I got it wrong. Tandyfan from the R3W forum went to have a look at her. """ Just got back from having a look at the van. Been off the road since 1999 but looks like it had been looked after before that. Adjustable front shocks! New silencer. Chassis showing some rust but no obvious holes and appeared to have been Waxoyled. Interior in the front was good, back had rear seat fitted and looked good, just sagged rooflining (strange for a van to have rooflining). Definitely a 700 as gearlever short well back in propshaft tunnel, though 850 engine fitted which was not all rusted up so may be coaxed into life. No bodywork damage other than one rear door hinge, front doors opened easily. No heater matrix. Chassis number started with "E" (estate?) whereas mine starts with "V" (van?), perhaps the 700 vans did not have specific chassis numbers? Will post some more pics later. Owner not want to sell. Knows its are but admits it is not worth a lot so not thinking it worth silly money. Plans to clean it up and bring into workshop and go from there, may keep it as it is such and unusual vehicle and great conversation piece. He has my number though if he does decide to sell. """" Are you thinking what I'm thinking John? 850 engine and 700 crash box, our survey says? 'Duh durr' My Rebel does indeed have those doors fitted from that poor Rebel. Pics:
PatrickMcRebel Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Rebel on eBay, bit of a desirable price for a 700 but they do seem to be going up in value! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1972-Reliant-Rebe ... 500wt_1182
Jack_Harpers_Teeth Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 My Rebel does indeed have those doors fitted from that poor Rebel. Pics: Good to see some useful recycling there .
