Ditto. That is an absolutely lovely car and that's basically the standard I'd like to get my wifes car up to. Lots of love for that!

Had a VERY good offer from a chap in Ireland, anything special i need to do when selling to someone over there?

My dealings have all gone well.I would expect him to flyover- agree to meet you at Gatwick/Thiefrow, where he'll supply dosh & drive it home.No real issues.

He said he would come all the way to my garage,no meeting, think he mentioned boat coming over, but is there any special scrappage thing going on over there??Hes very keen to buy it,blind ,and before the auction finishes, been offered a lot more than what its currently at,something isn,t right,i,am sure??

Hmmm. Only you can decide on that but generally I'd be thinking that if it doesn't seem right, then it probably isn't.Might just be that he really wants it and comes across a bit over keen though and doen't want to miss out on it.

Tbh if I saw that car on ebay and wanted it enough I'd come over and buy it blind. If he arrives and it's not as described then he can tell you to go get bent of course, but it won't be.

Trust to gut instinct, Dave.I tried (unsuccessfully)to buy a Fiat Coupe 20vt nr Leicester early last week-cos I was up there & it would have been simple to A frame it home (at employers expense).I've since bought it off the auction -but at a lot less than I offered/was declined. He's pretty miffed - esp as I've paid a small deposit & will now collect ''when I'm next local'' -might just be a while.I also sold an old 60's Dattie post (failed) auction -via seperate Belgian/French/American personal auctions -raising substantially more. However -several buyers attempts to buy a 127 racer failed- because they didnt express any interest at all until after the auction -hoping for a much lower price. No chance Speak to him on the phone -then make your own mind up. If he's prepared to come right to your door - there's substantive outlay already.And- you could always re-list it......

i sold an alpine to a chap from ireland, met him at pembroke dock with the car, we then drove in to pembroke town. he went in to the bank to get some cash, handed it to,me back to ferry port where he drove the car on to the ferry and that was that, i travelled home with my dad inlaw. smooth transaction and with no problems had an e-mail the following day thanking me and saying that if i was ever in the east coast of ireland to look him up and i could go and have a look at his collection of rootes cars. :D

I'll second that experience. Sold an Opel Rekord about 5 years ago - plenty of inpenetrable phone calls from Irishmen, then got a top bid from a chap in Belfast who asked no questions, although he later told me the quantity/quality of text and pictures in the auction put any fears he had to rest. He booked a flight to Southampton, I picked him up, did the deal with no quibbling (in fact he thought the car was better than I described!), and he drove off up to Holyhead to get the ferry.

Its now at £2900 with a day left, and over 200 watchers,i think its got to be bye bye 25 Hello V6 Safrane, that can come out of storage and go into the 25s garage,at that money its got to sell??

£2900! That's a fantastic price for a Renault 25!, Hopefully the highest bidder is Genuine. At that price it should get a feature in Practical Classics Ebay watch page.

Sold my old Clio Williams to an Irish lad.. Again prettyy much no messing. He did pa me in Irish notes, but that was the worst of it. His whole journey seemed quite unplanned but despite the car's faults (which were mentioned in the advert) I heard nothing back when he got home.

Certainly is, I sold my pretty much immaculate Safrane 20v Exec for less than half that nearly 3 years ago.

I flogged my Polo G40 to an Irish chap. Put the advert up on a Monday, he phoned me tuesday morning asking if it was still available. Organised a flight, met him at East Mids on the Saturday where he drove it down a service road, handed over the full asking price and gave me the tax disc back to cash in.He then asked a question which still makes me chuckle.... "Do you know which way Holyhead is?"I pointed him around Birmingham, and then took pity and gave him the road atlas out of the car I was going back home in. Got a text the next morning saying he'd made it home OK, then a couple of months later on I got a load of pictures of a fully restored Polo looking absolutely sweet.Absolutely no hassle, the nicest fella I've ever sold a car to.

Sounds just like the one I had, didn't have a clue how to get home - He was with his Dad too! Didnt seem to register with them that they would have to drive it back.

I sold a cortina to a chap from Cork. I had huge problems understanding what he was saying on the phone .. Cork accent is bloody strong! but he sent a man over who collected the car a week later, handed over the cash and took it away no questions asked.Got a pic sent a few months later of it resprayed and looking mint. Actually a bit of a shame tbh as it was a bloody good car and probably the most useable cortina ive owned, and now its a trailer queen that only gets out for the occasional show.
