*Sorry I missed you yesterday Tim.Potential good news on the Maxi front: e-mailed David Kelly and they said they 'have a few Maxis in the yard' so a quick trip up there is on the cards. Floor pan has surface rust so plan is to wire brush as much as I can then rust treatment stuff then as close as I can to the original paint on top of that.Hopefully Kelly's will turn up a decent interior or enough parts to make one good matching one.

WHOOSH!Found another one same year about 20 miles away for parts. Off to see it at the weekend all being well!

If the spares one has undamaged indicator units, can I get dibs on them please!

Posted

Indeed you can. Hoping to be up there weekend latest. If you can sort transport by the way you could have the whole car (free) but I will be swapping some bits over onto mine if the interior etc is any good.I believe it will be 'A-frame-able' but can find out for sure and report back if wanted?

Really just need those lights, mine are giffer-damaged and will need to be replaced so I can get an MoT 8)

Still after some doors, if they are any good; please.

Maxi ones the same? If so that shouldn't be a problem though at the moment I've no idea what they're like.

I'm still seeing what the crack is with the car as I type. The bloke seems a really nice fella and knows load of people that I know.I've been honest with him and asked if he'd have a problem if I took what I wanted and offered the rest of the car to anyone who may want it or, worse case scenario, to bin the rest if I can't find a taker for it.Problem is storage this end, I have no space whatsoever and I don't want to push my luck/appear cheeky and ask if I can strip it at his place and then call a scrapman in for the bare remains. As yet I've no idea what colour it is or what condition the bodywork is in but he did not seem to have a problem if I take the whole car and make one (or more) good ones out of the two cars.

Well, due to one thing and another, Cavette has to let the Maxi go & has very kindly offered it to me (after I let him know I was jealous & would have loved to have had it if I lived in the Chester area).Luckily, the original owner is now happy for it to leave the Chester area as long as it goes to a good home. So, I shall be picking the car up a week on Saturday as I'm up in Manchester with a mate visiting friends anyway, so a diversion to Chester is no big deal. I'll obviously bring a camera along & take plenty of snaps of the adventure.Hopefully the slipping clutch won't be too much of an issue on the journey home - its pretty flat & all motorway/dual carriageway. I'll obviously be taking it nice & steady.Hopefully when the MOT runs out in June it wont cost too much to get through. If it does, I'll no doubt be offering it up for grabs again on here. I like the way the car is staying in the Autoshite community & it would be really cool if we can continue this.I'm obviously delighted to be getting this fine early example & can't thank Cavette enough for his kind offer. I'm really excited as I havent gone on a tat picking-up mission for some time.I'll keep you all posted on how the mission goes......

Potential 'village bike' material already, then. I like it!

Please do. I wonder if we need a "swap" thread where we can pass tat around for little or no exchange of money? I'll start the ball rolling with a VdP. ;)

There will be a spares car too, if (big if) I can get some of my garage cleared by weekend it will be included with the other one or offered on here as a spares/repairs source.

offered on here as a spares/repairs source.

Think I've sorted the doors I need, so I won't be making an offer. :)

You wouldn't have needed to make an offer, they'd have been free!

Shows what a decent guy Billy is, most people would've punted this on.

I'd have insisted you had a drink out of it for any time and hassle. ;)

I may like to pull the engine and box from the donor kebab MAXI?

Can't see that being a problem Tim, do you want the whole car mate?

Depends what shape its in really, Id only be breaking/scrapping it.

Think it's had a light under bonnet fire Tim but no idea what extent the damage is.If the interior is good the plan is to remove it and give it to Mr S as the one on mine isn't too pretty.*Cheers Keef and Espacetic.

Good work team!Keep it moving in a southerly direction and hopefully try and get it to Brighton early next year....

Love how this is "kept in the family" .Hopefully it is still within the Autoshite Community, so when i am in my 20's (lower insurance) .. i canthen put my name on the adoption list.

Posted

Yep, I like this keeping it in the family malarky as well. I'll deffo be offering the old girl up to you guys when I'm done with her.
