needs new front pads next month or so

otherwise, nothing to report

i'd do it myself, but i like the stamp in the book (which is now full) and well, for that price i don't mind paying for it to be done by a good friend of mine

popped to the local motor factors on my way back to pick up a brakelight bulb, 50p for a single bulb, easy pasy to change on these too!

i literally cannot express just how good this car has been, it's been a lovely easy car to own and has treat me extremely well

yeah still no real issues tbh

bit of a suspension clonk on rough roads

however, as an absolute doofus i completely forgot the mot expires tomorrow

the only place i could get it booked in was halfords autocentre which it’s going to at 9am tomorrow

wish me luck

i don’t expect a pass

Posted

well car dropped off for its test

not really where i wanted to take it but being a doofus i had little choice

im sure they’ll be alright

i seem to have been to halfords autocentre and actually had good service

i can’t argue with those advisories, i’d say the droplink one is very lenient considering it’s clanking nicely

also transpires i was signed up to the halfords motoring club, so it wound up a free mot

so quite pleased

Sounds like a good result!

I took my Peugeot to Halfords for an MOT under similar circumstances a couple of years ago. I knew it needed both front tyres, so booked it in for two budget tyres and an MOT. They fitted the tyres, then failed it on having tyres of different sizes on the same axle. These were the two brand new tyres they'd just fitted!

In fairness they swapped the offending tyre for one of the correct size, passed it, and refunded me the cost of one tyre and the test. So I only ended up paying for one tyre!

to be fair i must admit i’ve never had an issue with this branch of halfords, always used them through desperation and they’ve been quite good

the test was done in under an hour, much better than the 9 hours the independent i last used took! (the ones who killed my red C5)

i’ll use this halfords again i reckon, easy enough and seemed to be alright

front pads and droplinks replaced

pads tripped the wear sensor the other day, i had to agree with the mechanic that they were incredibly worn

had a slightly binding calliper too, pads were on 1.5mm except one which had basically nothing left

caliper all sorted, brakes done

£100 for front pads and droplinks, i don’t think that’s too bad at all, brake fluid will be done next month

i must admit new droplinks completely transform a car

i cannot express just how much nicer they make a car

i believe the correct description for the sound of knackered drop links is-

skeleton wanking in a biscuit tin!😁

this is the fault, should be entertaining to sort, deleted the code and the light has stayed off though

Ah, an EW10 with a secondary air injection fault.. quelle surprise.

50/50 whether the pump is duff or its all a bit blocked up. Probably latter given the code has cleared and stayed off.. for now

common issue i’m guessing?

reckon it’ll pop back on?

Fairly, whenever the EML comes on its usually that code!

I think it most likely will do, but see how it goes. If it is caused by a bit of carbon buildup and it's only slight then it might take a little while to come back. Or it might come back tomorrow!

i mean compared to diesel issues they can have i can live with this, i don’t mind it needing a new pump considering the age of the car and the fact it’s been incredibly reliable so far

time will tell and i shall keep the thread updated

What warning bing and message popped up on the central display? Anti-pollution fault?

When mine needed a new fuel pump it was £900.

yes indeed anti-pollution fault, i suspect it might be related to that whirring noise i've noticed recently at a cold start

so far so good, not come back on so time will tell what happens

See, the problem is that you've said this bit...

Jokes aside, hope that's sorted it out. :)

It will fail eventually and ping the light back on, the pumps are dirt cheap anyway so just get it changed.

i’ve ordered one from ebay for £15, i can’t complain at that price even if it only lasts a few years

glad it’s not something major

still no light back on

ac ice cold

economy shot up with the better weather

im happy

It's likely just a bit clogged up then, not bad enough to flag the light back on yet. Similar to EGR valve insufficient flow codes, they can come and go if its just a little bit clogged and borderline

here’s a strange one that happened last night

hopped in the car after it had been parked about 20 minutes

started fine and then seemed to misfire and splutter, then cut out

started back up after a good long crank and tried to do the same again but managed to quickly jam the throttle and held it around 3k rpm for a moment and then all was fine

no repeat since

running and driving absolutely fine

just seemed odd

as the song goes “there is a light and it never goes out”

oh dear!

BEEPS BE HAPPENING!

we have a re illumination

different circumstances this time

engine up to temp, hot day, parked outside a shop in order to buy a drink, left the engine running as my partner was waiting in the car and i wanted her to stay cool and leave the air con on

i was in the shop literally 30 seconds when i got a text “your car has just beeped and said anti pollution fault on the screen”

i had left the car unattended for 3 minutes in total

surely an air pump fault would only affect it from startup?
