not quite sure, the guy i got it off said it was a fairly easy job but im not very mechanically minded so i think ill let someone else have a bash at it, im good at buying old shite/ driving it/ sometimes improving it slightly and rarely even selling it on... hence the reason i have so many ! lol

Doing an allegro clutch is pretty easy, you dont need to remove the gearbox or anything, just a clutch cover. Its worth doing the crank seal at the same time though.

I would assume it's gearbox in the sump.Same as a Mini then, not alot of room but take the end cover off, starter motor and flywheel. There are threaded holes in the flywheel for a puller but usually a few sharp taps in the starter hole does the trick. As in Charlie Chuck "I'm not going to hurt you, just give you a little tap"

Are you the chap who emailed me about a swap for the Alpine? Sorry I haven't got back to you before if so, for some reason my hotmail account sent your email to my junk folder and I've only just spotted it. I like the look of the Astra but I'm about to lose a chunk of my storage space so I need to reduce the size of my fleet as a priority.

Nice to see you made it on here Joe (yes this is Mark who brought the fiesta off pat !)What was the deal with the advert for the fiesta "Or nearest offer" , i said a reasonable offer and she said "Well i don't want offers just the full price"Atleast it won't be sitting rusting away, i have been VERY busy and unearthed a little too much rust.Do you know who changed the Carb on it Joe ?Because it no longer has the Variable Venturie that it should have on.Also - Welcome to autoshite (I guess pat told you about it)

Ha, I saw this driving down Woodchurch Road last week, I love it. I've also seen a Maxi - is it the black one?400 quid is not low though.

hi Mark, thanks, an yes Pat showed me the site, so ofcourse im now hooked! :D the 'or nearest offer' was exactly that, she had a lot of interest from other people an even after she agree'd to sell to you people were offering to pay higher so she would of lost out big time to drop the price at that point, at the time of advertising we didnt realise how much interest there would be. ive known Pat about 6 yrs an its always had that carb as long as ive been around, could of been done before she owned the car. she used to have a beige mk1 exactly the same but with the VV carb which i bought off her a few yrs ago, had a brilliant engine but the bodywork was more rust than paint lol

hehe, my maxi is dark green PCM***J, theres a met blue one in bebington but apart from that i havent seen another locally for years 400 was low to me when i paid 450 for it 6 weeks ago an thought id got a bargain lol (i would have got a bargain if id not realised how i hate driving things people dont stare at!) lol

thanks brammy, i hadnt seen a rebel in years either until i saw this one, 3 minutes from my house(walking!) with a ton of spares for the excellent price of £50!

There is another Rebel owner on here but they very rarely post. They have a saloon (I assume they're not hatches!) in bright orange. I can't remember their username but I believe it's the reg number of the Rebel, something starting with G :)

this car must go this weekend, the tax runs out on monday an i have nowere to put it so no reasonable offer refused see details an pic here http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C136835/thanks Joe

just checked the car over an noticed a slight leak from the waterpump! (£12.99 new on ebay) its not loosing mega amounts of water but will need sorting, i guess the annoying rattle i thought was the heatshield has been the waterpump. i must sell this car so no genuine offer refused, with a set of brake pads an a waterpump this will be a great car for someone especially with summer round the corner, if its not sold by monday it will have to be weighed in which would be a great shame
Posted

This simply cant be weighed in!

Save it Billy!

Posted

Erm that's the plan Tim but tax, water and pump and brakes on top of cost are probably going to be a killer I'm afraid.

Posted

I think you should - summer is nearly here...

Posted

I guess it depends on what the vendor is prepared to drop to. Scrapping has been mentioned, but would he accept scrap money?

Posted

im really hoping someone buys the car tomorrow an gets me off the hook because i really hate scraping cars if they can be saved, anyone who takes it on will not be disappointed, an will have a real bargain, as i said the car cost me £450 6 weeks ago :(

Posted

How much will you get if you scrap it .. £200 max ?If you are prepaired to scrap it , then you should be prepaired to take scrap value for it, when you know it will live on :) It's all about the profit or even breaking evenJust knowing a car has lived on is fantastic ...Or is that just me ?

Posted

If it gets desperate, and the scrap man looms I could be interested!

Posted

i'd be happy with £200 at this point, i think it would be an awful waste to scrap it, it has 5 original alloys with good tyres, a new hood, new exhaust, lovely low milage engine, smooth gearbox, nice interior an aside from a bit of rust, nice bodywork.... someone must want it
