Running In Please Pass - on the back of a Primera

When did you last see a Running In Please Pass note on the back of a motor?

I was driving to work this morning and passed an old boy driving a clean Mk1 Nissan Primera with the note on the back window!

Do people still run in their rebuilt engines?

You have to run in any rebuilt engine. It's just nobody rebuilds their engine any more.

I remember the local minicab firms used to advertise for "Runners In" in the paper, I could never fathom out what it meant as a kid though I assume it was for new cars they'd got?

I'd love a Running In sticker- been looking for years.I'd put it on the back of something damn quick though

Saw this a few weeks ago...

I remember reading a piece in an old magazine about a bloke who had a tatty 'running in - please pass' sign in the back of his E-Type Jag, and a sign on the other side saying 'run in - now try it'....

Must say, I wonder how many drivers now would even know what it means.

About a decade ago..... was on a Mk3 Escort I think, which looked tatty enough to be a very dubious engine rebuild recipient!

I will be needing one of those as well this summer, when i finally put the HA back together.. I suspect normal modern drivers will think its some joke or other?

I remember my dad "running in" his new FSO Polonez, he picked it up the friday afternoon and on the saturday morning we set off for hols in the peak district, but he decided that it was best to avoid motorways and to not exceed 3000rpm, it took about a million years to get there.

I wonder what the plod would make of a running in sticker? Should be nothing, but I can`t help but think that if our local unmarked Volvo-of- death got behind for example the 180 as it was doing 30 in a 50 with a running in sticker in the back they`d use it as an excuse to somehow seize it and take it away on a low loader and charge me £150 to get it back. If you`re not from Dews-troit that might sound a stretch of the imagination, if you are you`ll probably think the "getting it back" part is a bit optimistic.

I suspect that the New Dewsey cops would have a mobile crusher unit on hand for incidents of this nature, mainly because they're a set of bald tossers.
