You would have to be mental or a minicabber to buy one of them new, my Primera had the same engine and it was dismally slow, and no more fuel efficient than the petrol engined equivalents.

Agreed. Mine was reluctant to rev over 3500rpm as well. Its only saving grace was the fact that red diesel was 45p a litre at the time as opposed to 75p for the high tax stuff.

This povo spec Cortina 1300 is a bit of a winner, could be a good way for HIRST CABS to splatter a bit of saturday night CHUCK onto the back seats of the OLD SKOOL FORD SCENE

Cor, that's a cheeky little number. I might well stick a bid in on that, you rotten sod. I fancy a MK5 Cortina and I bet a 1.3 L would be a right weapon! And cheap tax too.

I would like to buy it and spend all day driving it up and down the road past Seth's house tooting the horn and waving.

Duly noted. When you gonna be here?Edit: Mr B, Seeing the results of you internet TRAWLZ is always engaging and a good start to a dull Sat evening of interneting.

Yet this is making me very excited indeed. Just add dixie air-horns and drive around town sideways, sounding them constantly on a saturday afternoon. That is how to LIVE.

I imagine owning that to be a constant fear of some twat watching you driving it sideways through town, then following you home and robbing it off the driveway a few days later and putting it with all their other 'stock'.

zoiks. I reckon that even driving to the shops in that reliant would be a mega chore.Builth Wells is the location of the second worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

That bonnet scoop on the Reliants cant be standard is it?

Hey, I do not get a mega-stalk on for calibras, but at that price with a low mileage and plenty of test you cannot go wrong. STYLE.

I'm trying to imagine the effort needed to drive that barge "sideways" with it running a 2-litre pinto and it's made my head hurt.

Lack of funds prevents it alas. Not far away either, and my daughter's favourite car.

Posted

I reckon a nice calibra would be a great car to 'Barn', theyre gonna be almost exticnt very soon, I reckon survivors will be fairly sought after and be a cut above other old vauxhalls in terms of value.

Bald tyres smeared in grease?

On an icy roundabout perhaps, then you would be KEWL. Pinto-based piss-taking aside, it's a cool looking motor.

Hey if it's Pinto powered I could get Reg_Bo11 round to do 'experiments' based around MkV RS2000 I4 jobbies, I think they are pinto related. As are the 2.3 pez lumps found in Galaxy mum-wagons.

Posted

Those 2.3 scorpio engines look like a right pain in the nuts for wiring, and at 150bhp theyve got no more GRRR than the RS2000 engine seemingly. But they have got a balancer shaft.

I wonder if they are as inclined to eat coil-packs. OM NOM NOMS.

Fetch the cheap one back & I will give you some groats for it.
