I am supposed to be in a meeting with the words 'strategy' and 'roadmap' in it. I am actually watching old Ford tranny van ads.

What I want to know is, why is an ancient van promo film more interesting than the thing that you are paid for, and is happening now??? (I suffer from the same short attention span to strategy/roadmap/deep dive/fishbowl event).

What I am paid for is pretty interesting, but there's something utterly mesmerizing about old commercials, especially those for what might seem humdrum things. :)

Wot?! A Ford advert without the mighty Brian May "Driven By You" soundtrack?! BLASPHEMY!

I read the word Strategy and immediately thought of this song.

Whatever happened to the plumber’s van?
The humble, amateur Transit van?
Vans have become ridiculous
With their strategies and logistics

That pickup at the start was what I was driving in 1991

Just looked up the reg , last V5 in 97 and it died in 2000

Christ knows how many miles it had on it by then , at 3 years old it'd been round twice and wasn't far off 100k again

Bloody love that film. Ford got knee-deep in product placement, wot with the Transit, XR3i and Granny Estate.  And it's always fun to see some of my local landmarks, with Osea sailing club making an appearance, and a helicopter / Orwell Bridge flyby. Lots of content for Milton Keynes fans / domestic architecture fans, too.
