Over time it deteriorated, the tongue and groove boarding rotted away, metal frame rusted, electrics gave up etc. Only attention it got was to replace wheels and tyres. Collected various materials and parts to rebuild it but did nothing otherwise. Ended up stored on its end to save space. When the 2020 lockdown started, I decided to make a project ot it. Removed the tailate, suspension, coupling etc. Needle scaled the frame, followed by wire brushing, Jenolite rust converter, Wilko red oxide, grey undercoat and oil based black gloss. Rebuilt the suspension with new U bolts, shackle bolts etc. Hubs got new taper roller bearings, coupling cleaned up, new plastic mudguards etc. Floor is aluminium honeycomb stuff with an offcut of good roofing felt on top to make it non slip. Sides are 18mm exterior ply painted with grey shed paint. Tailgate/ramp is the same, but with a sheet of chequer plate on top.Made a spare wheel bracket. Lighting board was bought a while back but had never been fitted. Anyway, got it  all back together in the summer of 2020, took it for a spin round the block, found the tyres were losing air and cracking. Also, I'd adjusted the wheel bearings on the bench and found they needed tightening a tad. Anyway parked it up on the front and completely ignored it till now. Bought two new wheels and tyres and dragged it out to have a go at it. Fitted the new wheels and adjusted the bearings. Picked the best of the old wheels to use as a spare and jobs a good un. Body is about 6.5 feet long and 3.5 feet wide.

Meant to say I seem to recall a thread for trailers, but couldn't seem to find it. Anyway, apologies if it's in the wrong place. Also the brown marks on the tailgate are where it was parked up to a hedge and the ivy got hold of it!

Trailer looks solid. My old man built something similar....it weighs a ton before ye fill the fecker.....but oh my days.....the street you live on! Bet there aint many potholes there! Solid concrete by the looks of it. One of my old places was laid in a similar fashion. They dug it up and relaid it in tarmac. What a waste of time and money!

Should have used 12mm ply for the sides I suppose, but it was during lockdown and ordered it blind. It's not actually too heavy. Our drive slopes quite steeply and I can pull it up and down on my own. The estate was started before the war and finished afterwards. The concrete roads do seem pretty durable. Surprised nobody has told me off for not having the right number plate!Only went for a quick spin though.

For what do you use it for ?

Top effort there mate, and it looks great for it. I’m partial to a trailer as well, my brother and I bought a couple to muck around with over lockdown. Something satisfying about having something to drag along behind the cars 😅

Back in the day, I used it for tip runs, occasionally moving furniture etc. Haven't used it for many years for anything. Bit of a waste of time and money really, but enjoyed doing it, so perhaps not. It's a good trailer for light, bulky stuff. Got a bush to get rid of, then I'll decide what to do with it. If I get rid, I'll offer it on here first. A lot of secondhand trailers"just need..... "or "could do with.....", whereas that's ready to go.
