A Garelli Tiger was the first petrol powered conveyance I owned. I got it in the summer of 1979, about 5 months before I was 16. It cost £110. A mate of my brothers came round a few weeks later and said he'd like to buy it, so I sold it for £140. I only ever rode it up and down the Cul-De-Sac we lived on. A week later I got my next one, a Fantic Ti.

I’ve never seen one of those. It looks way cooler than a Fizzy that was considered the ultimate cool ride at my school when you were 16.

There were loads of Italian Mopeds that were way cooler and faster than Fizzies from maker like Garelli, Fantic, Gilera and Malaguti. Even the Puch Grand Prix looked better than a Jap t-bone framed 'ped.

Zastava 750.

Pay for the petrol and a good tip... or you get this brick through the windscreen.

The first bike with gears I ever 'rode' was my mates Garelli Tiger Cross. I 'rode' it down his garden path, on it's back wheel, my legs flailing about like a mad thing. Halfway down the path was  his Mums pride and joy, an ornamental rose arch, I've no idea how I got through that.

It made a glorious noise, sort of bwaaaaaaaaaarp which you could hear from miles away. He lent it to another mate who's fizzy had, unsurprisingly, seized. We could hear him riding back from work on it bwaaaarp, bwaaaaaaaaarp, RING DING DING (as he misses a gear), bwaaaaarp, bwaaarp, RING DING DING, bwaaaaaaarp bwaaaaarp etc etc for about 10 minutes before he turned up pale faced. It was the last time he borrowed it. Bloody hell it was fast though. Properly fast.
