Welcome! We have heard about your cars through long distance sightings at your workplace, great to have you here at last.

Welcome boobydoo. If that's your 1100 Special, I remember reading about it's restoration in an issue of Practical Classics sometime in late 2002. Marvellous.

What Car? rated the Tagora SX as something of a road rocket (0-60 in 7.9 IIRC) in 1983 when testing it against the Granada Ghia X and the Volvo 760GLE. I can't remember the last time I saw one, must be 15 years ago at least.

Welcome Sire! I have never owned one, hopefully someday. My old man had Hunters as daily drivers until 1996, ah the memories..... I would love a minty GLS.

Just remembered that I have a couple of photos of your white one from Croxley Green in '08

This must be your Simca too? From Kebworth last year.

Yup! Thats them!

I was in two minds to get rid of the vinyl roof to be honest and respray the roof white. It was never a factory option but I did hear that some dealer kits existed so it might be one of those fitted for the launch of the car!

What an exciting event the Tagora launch would have been...one of the defining moments of the 20th Century .......

Each dealer with the sparkly new model in prime position in the showroom..a glass of wine for each customer... a Corona for the young 'uns.....maybe a few vol-au-vents and pineapple and cheese on sticks. All very classy!

The breathless anticipation of the unveiling of the car from under the silky sheet.......away the sheet is whisked! and the resounding sound of an underwhelmed "Oh!" from the gathered crowd!

:(

Excellent! Do you have any idea how many are around then? Im guessing you possibly have the only roadworthy ones. But anyway, well done times a million. That is serious shite dedication.

Well there are 6 known to the Talbot Owners Club. I know one is another SX but not roadworthy....as for the other two...I've never seen them so not sure what state they are in. 2000 were originally imported to the Uk so looks like a survival rate of about 0.3%.Many thanks for the warm welcome, guys!

There is another gl in existance in the uk - its very rough and its been parked in an open yard in bleanavon in wales for a least ten years or so now its also white with the blue ribbed interior the body is totally shot but the car is complete its an early car on the w plate.Did try to buy it as parts for my own car but the owner would not sell.

How ridiculous! If it's been left outside to rot for 10 years you'd think he'd be glad to get rid! He obviously has no use for it!!

A bloody whacking great welcome sir!The so-called 'Management'

Well there are 6 known to the Talbot Owners Club.

So that means 50% of UK Tagoras are owned by Autoshiters! Hardly a surprise really..... :)

Welcome to A-S!Bloody hell, not only 3 Tagoras, but one with a Scottish registration! I love these cars, sadly I only have a Black 2.2 GL in 1/43rd scale :) I read the Simca resto article in PC, nice one on that too!.

The Talbot dealer in Cupar had one I remember,it was a silver GLS. It was 800W too! HSP800W was its number,I remembered it coz they had a Sunbeam Lotus which was HSP799W. I worked at the same garage a few years later and we were still looking after an A reg GLS which had a huge mileage on it,it was only about 5 years old at the time, can't ever think I've seen an SX Tagora though. :(

Fantastic that you're here, a mystery somewhat solved. Your dedication and perseverance is a lesson to many of us, me included. All I can ask is, where do we go from here?

All I can ask is, where do we go from here?

Somewhere, there must be someone with a collection of Ranchos. We need to find that person...

Oh my good lord, THREE Tagora owners on one thread!?!?!?!?! This is too much.Mr. Boobydoo welcome on here at last. I'm the bloke who made everyone on here aware of your motors originally, I work round the back of your Merc dealers and can see your tarp-covered one from my office window! There's a thread on here with all 4 cars on it from over the past year or so, hope you don't mind, I feel like a right stalker. Must have a cuppa and a chat soon. How were you directed on here, wasn't Stewart in the burger van was it? EL
