andrew e Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Is this anybody else's dream lottery scenario? Many thanks for the snaps
mouseflakes Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Thanks for these pics dc. Fantastic place. I went there to see the 504 estate they were selling two or three years ago. I thought it was a great day out (the missus hated it though ).
mk2_craig Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Wow what a tat hoard, I often wonder if cars sustain more minor damage in a museum than on the road though, especially when they're packed in so tightly. I'm pleased someone's stashed a Polonez away all this time!
Split_Pin Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Wow that is one ace museum, I really cant decide which one I like best - think its possibly the Polonez for its rarity (Cortinadaves valuation spot in for 93 - my mate bought an F-reg one in 94 for £10 to use aroud his dads yard when he was 14!), the Red Mk3 Escort or the Marina. Nice to see this has survived - it was featured in Popular Classics back in 1994 and I always wondered if it survived.
reallyloud Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 After last weeks giddy and arousing excitement in which I doubt I'll ever recreate, I present you with a few cars of mild interest. On its last legs I reckon. Have any of these been scened? Quite a few knocking around, unfairly under-rated though. This 2002 Tii would have been the range topper in its day, must be worth a few bob these days. Looks like the genuine article. Seen at the back of a pub. Possibly the result of a misguided bar tab. I think I've been seeing Yugos everywhere recently. Fortunately I managed to get this one on film. I can only assume this is one of the very last ones, as Yugoslavia would have been at war around the time this was registered. Ultimate early 80's Council house car. This one is actually quite tastefully done, the blue hue reminds me of a humbrol colour. Not seen one of these for ages, in perfect nick too. Its a 2.0 GLS which might well be the top of the range. The best a man can get.
VWPowered Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 if this had the same wheels on the back as the front and had the same rie height all round id had it.... lovely....drool
Spottedlaurel Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 That Prelude looks really rather nice, been ages since I've seen one.'Your' Nova saloon is a little worse for wear compared to the green one I spotted last week. Wasn't there a low, satin black one on RR a couple of years ago? Was at Santa Pod in 2006 IIRC.Edit: Seeing the plate on the Yugo reminds me of the reg'n on my old Manta, BJH160K, in turn makes me think of Barclay James Harvest which is what someone said once when they saw my car.

There's also that daft hot-rod van thing made out of a nova saloon....
garycox Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 There's also that daft hot-rod van thing made out of a nova saloon....Sounds interesting... IIRC there's a nice brown one belonging to someone on RR...
VWPowered Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 cough cough lhd cough cough opel corsa cough cough must stop smoking...
pogweasel Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Not LHD though, is it. That smoking has affecyed your eyesight. (Doovla have it down as a vox hawl too)
VWPowered Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 That smoking has affecyed your eyesight. (Doovla have it down as a vox hawl too)possibly its good shite after re-looking at the pic i got the wheel mixed up, just saw the grille etc...
Mash Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I expect it's more scene to have Opel badges than Vauxhall ones...
reallyloud Posted December 11, 2008 Author Posted December 11, 2008 Some more captures over the last couple of weeks. Unusual to see one that hasn't been modified. top of the range beemer, and a much better looking car than any of its predessors I reckon. Vorsprung dur table football. 4 speeder GLs model. Wonderful cars. I've seen the silver one before, just thought it was neat to see 2 within a couple of hours of each other. Old Peugeot estates seem to be surviving in reasonable numbers. Initially I thought this was a kit car.....its a Zagato bodied version of the Junior range. I have to say I prefer the original unmolested version.
Spottedlaurel Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I agree, top drawer stuff there DC. Has that utterly unpleasant Metro got a PGW...W reg on it, like that Astra 4dr I saw recently? That big BMW is a fine-looking thing.
michiel Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Nice spots - love the Zagato Alfa for its quirkiness...
Split_Pin Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Good spots, I forgot how much I liked the Type 3 VW on seeing that standard one. In the early 80's it was one of my favourite cars to spot as they were quite rare even by then.
pogweasel Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I agree, top drawer stuff there DC. Has that utterly unpleasant Metro got a PGW...W reg on it, like that Astra 4dr I saw recently?Careful now!!!!! I'll have the BMW for sundays, plus one of those 305's for daily pottering pls!
Mr_Bo11ox Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Ha ha, those Tatas are such turdboxes, what a way to travel.
reallyloud Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 Has that utterly unpleasant Metro got a PGW...W reg on it, like that Astra 4dr I saw recently?Yeah its not far off is it? The Astray is PGW 317W, the metro isn't too far off. The Doovla states that the Vauxhall was registered on the 1st of June 1981, the Metro 3 weeks later. Interesting but proves NOTHING. The Audi's reg made me chuckle too. I came across this today: And pretty much soiled myself. I'd seen the car around but the opportunity to snap it never occured. Luckily the elderly gentleman who owns it was present too, he's had for a long time - and used it to tour europe. Its tax exempt but has had a fair amount of filler and a can job. I think that rear hubcap is Morris minor sourced? Anyone confirm that? Its definately BL. Despite the 1972 cars free road tax, I think my rusty but unmolested car is the better bet. Hopefully I'll get a snap of them together at some point. I now know that there are 4 Carina of this series (TA12) in this colour, one in Scotland, one was on ebay, the other 2 live down here in Hampshire 5 miles of each other. What are the chances?
Owain-328i Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Ha, unfortunate but apt number plate.... I drove past the only 'TATA' dealership ive ever seen in my life last month in mid wales. I should have stopped to take a few pics as there was quite a lot of interesting GROT outside aswell. I'l get a pick when im driving past again in a few weeks

Can't believe in this day and age there are still old guys running around in cars like this as their daily drive. It's 2008 FFS. Initially there were quite a few pre-72 cars in daily use and it was a bit of a novelty but I think people are generally less tolerant and prefer the creature comforts of a 90s shitter over saving a few quid each year!
pogweasel Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I guess it's just the make do and mend mentality, aint-broke-why-replace-it kinda deal. I can see my folks getting that was in a few years... they seem competely oblivious to the fact that their car is now 16 years old and ergo more than double it's projected life expectancy. As long as it keeps rolling, doesn't cost much t fix/MoT every year, it makes sense. I'd be excited to see that Carina, even though I don't own a matching one. I still hold out some hope that if I badger enough, Mr_Bo1 will sell me his yella one.
