Cavcraft Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Anyone bored enough to guess what the above is (shite) related to?Not very helpful pointers include: goodbye to the East, hello to the West, lowered suspension, noisy exhausts and back aches.Free 'e-prize' for the nearest guess. No Vauxhall content is included or implied.
seth Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Something to do with speed limits on the M6? 194.7 being a distance.
M'coli Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Either junction 11, 11 sets of roadworks or 11 people working on the roadworks.
seth Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I was pondering about 11 stops in the hard shoulder due to breakdowns but then it would have taken longer than 4.5 hours
Cavcraft Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 I was pondering about 11 stops in the hard shoulder due to breakdowns but then it would have taken longer than 4.5 hoursI wasn't in a Vauxhall remember Pog's right, M'coli isn't. Carry on...
Cavcraft Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 No to Pete's anwser and no plus 'I wish it was' to Seth's!E-prize doubled if you can guess what I went in and what I came back in by the way.
Rocket88 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Went in a Renault 11, bought a Daimler Majestic Major which broke down, meaning a return home on a number 34 bus?
Pete-M Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Goodbye... Whoa, nuts. I've just been reading CAR's roadtest of that.
Cavcraft Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 GR8 FUN, 136 brake standard I think. Defo more of an A /B road blaster than a motorway car though.
M'coli Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Is that the Proton Satria? The road rally boys love these, apparently Mitsubishi Evo front suspension bolts straight on.
r.welfare Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 You could probably make the ultimate sleeper by reclothing an early Lancer Evolution with Proton Persona bolt-on panelwork.
meggersdog Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Did you have to adjust the cruise control eleven times on a journey of 194.7 miles that took 4.5 hours and returned 34 mpg
Cavcraft Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 New motor has PCD of 5x108.11 refers to the amount in GBP of petrol is cost me there, coming back there was plenty of juice in the other car.*Nothing exciting by the way but probably qualifies for some sort of shiteness.
Station Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 They're ace cars, look at those bolt on arches. If they're based on Colts or Lancers, the Starion engine will go into it.
Cavcraft Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Build quality aside in places, it was fantastic fun to drive. Been offered a 1.8GTi version which I'm pondering on, but 3 door cars are a pain in the arse for me.
garbaldy Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 They're ace cars, look at those bolt on arches. If they're based on Colts or Lancers, the Starion engine will go into it. no the starion engine wont as the proton is a frontdriver the old proton i had took some punishment on the navi rallys and it never let me down they are bulitproof cars and great fun to drive if your not overly fused about smooth driveing like modern tat.
warren t claim Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 If you were using a recovery truck 4.5 hours is the most you can drive in one go?
Cavcraft Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Lol, I got shut of my recovery truck a while back now.I think my new steed weighs about the same as one though and I had a nice warm arse on the way home

It's a Lancer block.
garbaldy Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Don't want to turn it into a technical, but 4g63 will go FWD. It's a Lancer block.yes tiss the same block but to make it fit under the bonnet without haveing the hump off quasimoto would cost an arm and a leg it would be far cheeper to go evo as they are already set up for that :wink:forgot to say someone over on ojc has asked if you still have the engine
Cavcraft Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Is the new motor a big Volvo?Certainly is... Not a T5 unfortunately, nor a dizzler, but drives well enough and has a few toys.Managed 42.1mpg according to the doofer on the dash (and the fuel gauge seems to back that up), though like a dickhead I was 3/4 of the way home before I realised it has cruise control.2.5 petrol with slushbox, nowt much happens at all until it's put into sport mode or doing 70 odd in top. FUCK OFF M6 ROADWORKS
