Good point, don't want any trouble with the rear axle!

The boot is full of tools and camping gear. They're definitely required!

We're now dealing with the weather instead and single speed wipers aren't helping

Made it to our overnight stop in Frankfurt. The show officially started today. We've heard from a friend already there that it's torrential rain and wet underfoot already so we're looking forward to setting up camp in a swamp tomorrow 😅 For tonight we're settling for the cheapest hotel in Frankfurt. It's smack bang in the middle of a drug den by the smell of it. I'm sure that's fine.

We have made it!

Doing the last two hours with serious hangovers wasn't much fun 😅

Weve spent the afternoon getting wet and looking at cars. It's really interesting to see the European Minis at a show. Usually they're all the same cars at the UK shows.

What's really nice to see is that the show is 99% classic Minis.

Here's a selection of the more unusual stuff

Looks brilliant.

Shame about the fuckin stupid weather - really annoying when folks have come so far and made so much effort. I'm sure the local Pils tastes good anyway 🍻

It's a very wet morning. We opted to stay in a hotel and I'm glad because it's torrential.

Today we need to do an oil change and fit a thermostat. Thankfully the organisers have arranged for indoor space for people to do maintenance

  • Tommyboy12 changed the title to Tommy's A-series Misery - Road Trip Part Deux - Return to England

Time to return home. It's been a great (and very wet) couple of days at IMM 2024. We have another 650 miles to get home with another overnight stop in Ghent (originally Liege but we've decided to push a bit further to Calais).

PXL_20240601_191840859.jpg.8de08c1a18a1d52ce43d667aa4b206ef.jpg

Today we have a convoy going on with a friend we met up with at the show. However they're even more mad and pushing straight onto Calais today (near 600 miles). They do have fuel injection, 7.5 gallon tank, and more sound deadening though so their ears won't bleed.

Hopefully we make it to Belgium!

That's so German and properly organised. Do miss that.

If anything, she's looking even better for a bit of travel-stained patina

Shame https://www.imm2025.org/ is in England - mine should be done by then and a Euro trip would be very cool

2026 is set to be in Poland so aim for that one!

2025 is looking to be way too expensive also. £140 for just camping in a field is quite a lot.

We had some spare time in our way to Ghent so we stopped at a couple of local car shows. The first was just in a roadside pub and we had no idea it was there until we passed it.

The locals found it very funny that there was a British car at their little car and coffee meet

We then stopped at a second car show which was part of a bigger town festival celebrating Corpus Christi.

kin ell. That's mental. Polski has got to be cheaper than that, and I'd rather go there than Sussex. Good excuse to go Harwich-Hook too.

What a superb idea - they should have this at all shows for older vehicles.
