Cunting twatting shitty fucking bollocks tosser PC decided to have one of its may fucking crashing/BSOD moments when I was on Sky poker with full house aces over kings costing me £37. I fucking despise the twatting thing more than any car I have ever owned, even the ones I sent to the fire brigade to die a nasty death.

Does anyone local to Merseyside have a Pc they want to sell that is in the slightest bit reliable?

Does anyone know how to cure BSOD stop 000124 code on an Asus(ANUS) motherboard?

xxx124 is a hardware error code. Try restarting the PC and going into setup. Look for an option like "LOAD FAILSAFE DEFAULTS", then save and exit. Secondly, is your PC overheating? Is it full of dust and crap? Run it with the side of the case off if possible, and see if the fault recurs.

Decide to cover charity RC car event for a fun feature in web magazine.

Several problems occur:

1. It's in Lancaster. Problematic.

2. I ended up winning without trying. So had to return to collect my prize. Argh, Lancaster again.

3. Took my FF01 Clio and it ended up getting twatted by a somersaulting buggy and gouging a chunk out of the already buggered shell.

4. Most of the pictures (including the video footage I wanted to edit into a 30 second package) came out crap because of the light. The video footage has dropped frames all over the place.

Ordered a laptop from Dell outlet over a week ago (cheap refurb) delivery has been scheduled for today since I placed the order, so I planned to stay in for the day. Just now I've got an email saying delivery is now scheduled for Monday .... I have a dentist appointment and a job interview on Monday ffs.

The only number I can get to phone the delivery people is an 0871 (10p min) number and I refuse to call those.

I'm having a proper mare with my private plate at the moment, this is a bit long winded so bear with me!

After my crash last year my insurance company said it was fine to remove my p/plate to put it on my new car which i done, Then a few months ago when i went to tax it it said that it was on a VIC marker and needed checking, I contacted my insurance again and it seemed that they had added the Cat C marker to the wrong plate, the private plate instead of the old plate the Passat was one, meaning the Bora was showing as a Category C and not the Passat, after a lot of pissing around they apologised and told me that they had changed it back.

As I'm selling the Bora now i went down the DVLA to change the plate again as i can't sell the car until the updated V5 comes back, Today i get all my paperwork back saying they can't removed the plate as it still has a VIC marker against it

Just got of the phone to the insurance company again, they said they have fucked up and forgot to tell the DVLA they had no interest in the plate so now i have to take a letter back down the DVLA office and wait a few weeks until all my paperwork comes back before i can sell it again, plus I'm paying out for a temporary additional insurance cover for the Bora.

They will be getting a letter of complain and a request for compensation for the extra insurance i'm paying out and going to lose.

And on another note the lady at the insurance company just emailed me a copy of the engineers report for my Passat, They were willing to offer me £2301 for it but i accepted £2000 (as that's what i paid for it 18 months earlier). Crashing cars and private plates are fooking grief!

Have you tried one of these? Someone posted a while ago, and a couple of us bought one. They're really good and the sound is excellent with no frame drops if you use a decent micro SD card! Well worth the £10. They attach nicely to all manner of things (like RC cars).

How do they justify BIN prices for those cameras ranging from £8.50 all the way to £100? :?

I don't suppose that anything can overcome a hardware defect but I have been running Ubuntu since it was launched on a self-built PC with an Asus board. Never had a single problem with it. Getting on a bit now but is still significantly quicker than my much newer and higher specced Toshiba laptop with Vista chugging along on it. Immune to just about any malware without having to resort to firewalls, antivirus, antispyware etc.

I hate Ebay, or perhaps I hate people who bid on Ebay with no intention of following things through, I have the Fiesta on there at the moment, today it had reached reserve, now I see it is back down to the starting bid as the high bidder has withdrawn his bids using the excuse "seller changed the description". Hmm I added to the description on the day it went on and that bidder had been making bids after that point. What they really meant was they appear to have bought another car elsewhere, but thought it fun to carry on bidding on mine and then withdraw the bids. (I'm on the Fiesta MK1 forum as well) if it was done to piss me off it has worked.

Add them to your blocked bidders list. What they have (quite likely) done is to bid to see what the reserve is then removed bids, eBaY was rife with this at one time. What people would do is to do that then leave it a few days and offer you the reserve (if it was cheap) or just below.

or they keep the price high for the first few days, to discourage other ebayers from bidding and watching the item, then remove their bids near the end, so another ebay id (which they may use, or their mates use) can get the item cheap

Bastard fucking Volvos.

As has been glanced upon elsewhere, I paid another autoshiter two hundred pounds for a slightly ropey looking Volvo 740GLE a couple of weeks ago. Ran lovely for three days, then died. And again. And again.

Since then I've changed the coil, checked all the leads, dizzy, and today changed the fuel pump relay. This seemed to make a huge difference, started first time and ran for about five minutes... then switched itself off. Restarted... ran for a few minutes, switched itself off again. Got it running, managed to get it to move, left it running for an hour to make sure it wasn't going to rip the piss out of me when I went to drive it home... and the bastard thing did it again!

Much swearing ensued. Jumped in, turned the key, it coughed into life, made a sound not dis-similar to a Transit Di, ran at about 30rpm for three seconds, shuddered, then died again. The rev counter has started randomly jumping about and it's throwing me a warning light I can't find reference to online or in the owners manual.

This kind of shit...

Besides the fact it's only worth about £800 it's not even fucking MOT exempt, never mind free of road tax. People advertising recovery trucks as MOT exempt when 99% of them aren't pisses me right off. I hope he demonstrates it to a potential buyer and the chassis snaps in half as he's being followed by someone from VOSA.

Possibly... ?! It's a B230E which I think makes it Bosch fuel injection, I'd imagine is does have a crank sensor but wouldn't know where to start due to really quite frightening mechanical ineptitude if it's not got a Leyland 680 mill...

Coil leads... didn't think of that, might be an idea!

sounds more like one of those sensors,or the ignition amp.

My B3 Passat had this sort of problem, the coil leads were interrfering with the speed signal to the ECU.

I had a Volvo 940 that behaved exactly like this and it was the crank sensor! IIRC its near the top of the bellhousing and not too bad to do.

What makes a recovery truck tax/MOT exempt?

Thing is with the DVLA is that as they treat people like an outlaw, I feel this gives people the right to act like an outlaw in return.

For example, some years back I got a SORN fine for something I had legitimately sent the paperwork off for (which had been taxed in the meantime anyway). However, you can't win against them - even if it is lost in their system, they will just quote the same old baloney about "proof of sending is not proof of receipt". I'm sure they can even wriggle out of it if you send it by recorded delivery. I also took offence to the fact that the fine is usually £80, but if you pay them quick it is "only" £40 - I've felt for a long time that half-price early payment deals should be illegal, as people are more willing to pay them when they're in the clear, rather than arguing the case. You wouldn't confess to a murder you didn't to commit to get half of a life sentence, so bollocks to accepting any sort of civil fine not due, it's the principle.

Sorry to dig this up - I'm catching up after a week without web. I got a SORN fine for the Jag while it was sat in the restorer's yard. Restorer was supposed to tax it for me (all paperwork left with him, but he forgot). I wrote an apologetic letter and explanation, enclosed my £40 cheque, and to this day it has not been cashed. This was in October. Admin screw up or evidence of decency?

What makes a recovery truck tax/MOT exempt?

The only REAL MOT exempt ones have to be over 3500kgs and spec lift only. Even then you can only recover legitimate broken down cars (taxed, tested and insured) and if you took one to scrap for example and brought the wheels back with you on the bed you'd be breaking the law as you're carrying goods on the bed. Even a truck with a slide (or beavertail) bed and a spec lift is not MOT exempt because the back is designed to carry goods, i.e cars. Also you have to ask why they aren't MOT'd because if they're in good enough condition they'd pass a test.

The way VOSA are these days you'd have to be either lucky or mental to get pulled and get away with it.

As for tax exempt my understanding is they must be pre-1973 like anything else.

Thanks for that, I always wondered.

Gritters are tax and MOT exempt, someone should mount a hi-ab lift on one and put cars in the hopper.

There's a fella who delivers coal up here with an old Leyland Daf gritter, I will have to ask him if it's still exempt.

How do they manage to tax them without MOT?

Because the Post Office, Doovla and to some extent Vosa don't know what they're doing between them. Anyone can walk into a Post Office, get the correct form, fill it in and send to DiVLAds and job done. You then get an exemption certificate which the P.O at least are usually happy to accept when taxing a banana chassis-ed, shagged out old Transit spec lift.

VOSA are switching on now though and bearing in mind they spy their arse if you have so much as a bulb out, they don't take too kindly to poorly maintained MOT-less vehicles.

People maintain (possibly correctly) they've been tugged and nothing's been said but as stated VOSA don't always sing off the same hymm sheet, but they are getting their act together.

Trouble is for those that buy unwittingly it won't matter what the advert said, if you're driving it it's your responsibility to make sure it's legit.

Oh, and as regarding tacho laws for 3501kgs or more they changed the law a couple of years back to state you can't go more than something like 60 miles from your base without having a tachograph fitted and I've talked to banger racing lads who've been tugged and told because they're racing for reward they need a tacho in place.

The gritter idea is class though: you could put some salt in the back, Hiab an old Vauxhall onto the back and by the time you returned home all the evidence would have disintegrated :D

Do ever get the feeling after the earth is a burnt out shell after nuclear war, there will still be the DVLA and VOSA working out new and pointless ways of crippling motorists with their bureaucracy and made up on the spot laws that not even themselves understand or can make sense of. They should get out into the open and try to get laid or something. I can't imagine a DVLA official on his deathbed looking back on his life and being happy with the life he has wasted because of his rabid pursuit of coming up with all those stupid fucking ideas.

I have seen MOT exempt beaver tails- my mate had an old AWD crew cab beaver- it was in a shocking condition, arches rotted off it, roof coming off with rust e.t.c but it had an MOT exemption certificate with it from the days it used to be a motorway roadworks breakdown truck. Technically it should have had an MOT, as it was no longer being used for breakdown work but as it had the relevant (now incorrect) paperwork he was ok. It survived several pulls by plod as well IIRC. From what I have been told part of MOT exemption included the need for the truck to be incabale of carrying anything but vehicles, so the truck had to have either a sloped beavertail or a spec-lift.

Its a bit of a strange situation really, as soon as the truck is no longer used for breakdown work the owner should apply to have a regular yearly MOT. I guess many people forget about this and just carry on cruising around MOT exempt!

This was all pre VOSA days mind, if that heap of shit had been on the road nowadays those VOSA boys would rip him another A-HOLE.
