Austrian shite sightings *cyprus-update*

As I said, the Mercedes-Benz Heckflosse is one of the popular classics, today I saw a 200D which I liked better:

Posted Image

I like the indicators on the front more, it doesnt look so naked like the 190D.

Posted

I prefer the ones (W111) with the larger vertical headlamps, but any rustfree 60's Merc is OK with me :D .

'Heckflosse' is the original German for 'Fintail', I take it - that would explain why these cars were not called 'Tailfin' instead, which makes more sense in English.

...'Heckflosse' is the original German for 'Fintail'...

Right!

Today I´ve seen the rarest car in the world! Definately! I was completely shocked, I stopped my Galloper, jumped out and took these pictures. Sadly the very old lady-owner wasn´t friendly and wasn´t in the mood to talk.:roll: I bet that´s the only surviving one in Austria! That´s rarer than a BMW 507 or a Mercedes-Benz Gullwing, rarer than a Lamborghini Murcielago Spider or some other supercar-shit!

Datsun Stanza 3-door!!!! :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

Posted

Blimey

Funnily enough I went on OJC for the first time ever and one of the threads near the top was about this three door Stanza model, pretty convenient for you seeing this!

Posted

I was extremely excited, this must be the only one surviving in Austria! And like every car that survived longer than ~ 12 years, it´s very well cared for and almost rustfree. I wouldn´t buy it though, of course there is no word for how rare it is but at the end it´s just a FWD-3-door-compact car.

Posted

Would you buy it if it was at reasonable UK-type prices (eg a few hundred euros)?

Posted

Definately! But in this condition, it would cost ~ 2000 Euro, so it wouldn´t be interesting enough for me I have to admit.

Posted

I love those Stanzas, such a pleasant looking car. Surely you should wait around until the old woman sells (somehow). Can't see her seeing any value in it.

Two Camrys, a white generation IV and a red generation II :

and an early SsangYong Musso 602EL Diesel, I like them. Sadly almost all of them have disappeared by now:

Now look what was parked at the local cemetery:

A Passat Kombi. I haven´t seen one for at least 10 years and I was glad. That´s such an ugly thing, I think it looks horrible. Uuurghhh.... :?

Really? Looks rather good to me - a nice, crisp, clean design.

Posted

Camry estate and Passat combi have me :D

Estate cars FTW (where 'W' = 'weekend trip to the dump')

Posted

I don´t know why I don´t like the Passat Kombi, it looks so careworn to me...:lol: I love the Camry Estate because I know how fantastic (comfortable, reliable, etc.) this car is. vvv

a nice 300 SE Heckflosse

Porsche 911 Speedster

VW Bus T2 with glasses

When do you recognise, that it´s summer again? All the classic cars leave their lock-ups and cruise around town until september.

An old Rover, like every classic car on the street perfectly restored:

Well, I think for once Austria has some more interesting OJCs than we do! That 929 is an odd one, never seen that shape before, and I seriously doubt there is a Liteace of that vintage surviving in the UK.

Part 2 of my spottings from Vienna!

I think this was a Buick, but I´m not sure:

buick.jpg

A very early BMW 520 E12, seems to be a one-owner-car, judging from the plate:

5era.jpg

This Mazda 626 was very early too, looked in very good condition:

626c.jpg

I saw this 70s-style Porsche 924 in front of a supermarket. It looked like a time-machine:

That´s the worst Ford Mustand I ever saw! Don´t get me wrong, the condition was great, but it looked so sad!

Some Opirus for you, the pre-facelift-one:

opirus.jpg

and the facelifted-one:

The famous austrian offroader, the Puch Pinzgauer! This one was an ex-army-one:

volvogt2.jpg

That´s all for now!

Hi Michiel, nice to read you again! You´ve been very quiet the last few month, almost like me!

Did the Volvo 142 GT look like that or is it a customized one?

Posted

That's a fantastic update Lukas, there's so much there! I see the Opirus "facelift" didn't change it's look much!

The Taurus estate - there's one in my town, in white too - I must get a picture of it.

Haven't done much car-related stuff lately... I'm trying to spend less time on the net looking at cars and read more books :P

I think the Volvo has some period stripes that weren't standard, but I don't know much about Volvos actually.

Posted

Great spots! Just went through the whole thread.

I want that red/purple Senator B dearly...and that Lancer 4WD estate would make a lovely winter car, I'd think.

Hey Lukas,

There should be a Korean addition coming to Austria any day now - RHD as well.

My colleague Herr Ficker decided he needed a Hyundai- (my old Hyundai):

IMG_0091LeftFront.jpg

He is also bringing back a RHD S Class Mercedes as penance...
