Demented! Just about every car anyone on here has ever waxed lyrical on..And no-one's even mentioned the Tagora yet! Or are they too common these days...

Think the mystery Jap is a Nissan Pulsar, maybe US or JDM spec. The mystery interior a Renault, maybe a 16??

Posted

Good guess on the interior, he's updated the photo's on flickr with titles now and that is a R16, he's also listed the white car as a Nissan Sunny Tokyo?

Could very well be. For a while, in both Northern Ireland and the Republic there was serious money to be made in importing JDM stuff. For example, there were large numbers of JDM spec Camry minicabs.Bizarrely, at around this time a mate of mine made quite a bit exporting ropey old Jags to Japan.

The white J-tin is a 3-door B11 Sunny, certainly never offered here but part of the vast and confusing JDM range. Actually in some versions it's quite a pretty car and nicer looking than the N12 Cherry/Pulsar that we got.

That last one a 323....fucking shame all this is gonna get cubed....

The Uno van vas probably converted from new in Ireland, a couple or so decades back new cars in Ireland were taxed a shitload more than UK, vans were taxed far less, (we had the same crap in the 50's) there was at least one big workshop converting all models, mostly 2 door hatchbacks, done properly too, even had a floor welded in after back seat removal. Diesel engined misery for cars became very popular long before it happened here, again crazy high tax, (government corruption that would make a third world dictator blush) petrol was V. expensive, insurance cost your firstborn, road tax? better grease up your bumhole.Ireland has relied for a long time on emmigration to help 'balance the books', these days are receiving immigrants, oooh, gonna be interesting.

Posted

Well i never knew that, That would explain the Renault 19 van i saw in one of the other photo's then.

Posted

holland got stuff like that aswell, mark 5 escort vans, but 3 door hatches with panelled in rear windows and some with raised roofs.odd looking things.

Posted

Great pictures again, I wonder what cars arent there?Speaking of Escort vans, I never understood why there were proper van ones and estate vans. Is it something to do with tax? Saw a red one a few weeks ago, first time for a while.

Did anyone else contact this chap about parts? Pretty good service only took a week from paying to arrive.

Posted

I'm glad that some of the parts are being bought rather then just getting scrapped. Was he expensive?.

Posted

20euros plus the post so £26. I didnt think that was too bad especially when toyota want £67 just for the lense!

Posted

I wouldn't have thought that was particularly expensive. Think of how difficult it must be to find them over here.Nice to see stuff being reusedd though rather than it all just rotting into the ground or getting baled.

Upside down motor has to be a Volvo 144/164, looking at the sump ribs................ Also plastic front arch liners AND a chrome bumper?? Retro-future mobile.

Posted

I'm not sure, It has lights in the bumper which the Volvo doesn't, Plus a strange Cloverleaf attached to it?, I'm thinking it's Japanese.
