adw1977 Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 The Moskvich 412 is the cheapest car listed in my December 1976 Motorist's Guide to New and Used Car Prices (Flickr link) £370 cheaper than a Lada 1200, £137 cheaper than a Fiat 127, it was certainly a lot of car for £1025. Second hand, it was also one of the cheapest cars listed in Glass's Guide for May 1979 (Flickr link) The first column is the price it sold for new, the second column is the retail price used in May 1979. It seems 1976 was the last year of UK sales. lesapandre, egg and LightBulbFun 3

NorfolkNWeigh Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 These photographs are amazingly ordinary yet an amazing reminder of all , it seems, our everyday histories. I think we should all be taking pictures in our local Sainsbury's car parks and posting them , either in this thread or maybe a dedicated Supermarket carpark thread, not just interesting cars that would be in the spotted threads, just car park views. What do we think? Kringle, michael t and 500tops 3

What do we think? I think this thread should be just for the archive pictures, but I agree that taking pictures of car parks is a good idea, in 30 years we'll all be wanting to see them. As it happens, I got a good vantage point above two of the car parks at Gatwick while out walking a few days ago, and I took pictures for posterity. Hard as it is to imagine now, I'm sure the day will come when we're excited to see a Nissan Juke or Vauxhall Insignia! michael t, uk_senator and Kringle 3

HMC Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Cambridge 1974/75 again and a decent haul of end of life tat. Faves are the A35 and the mk2 Jaag. Just after the fuel crisis etc I bet they were cheap as chips. Sudsprint 1

The dark car looks like a Renault 16, whereas the white car looks like a 1960s Opel Kapitan. Incidentally, there is still a Sainsbury's in Coldhams Lane, but both it and its petrol station have been rebuilt; the latter is now situated on a different part of the site.
