Smoll SooZooKey of joy - service didded

I have won this fine conveyance from @Cavcraft as I overindulged in roffle tickets over the past few days.

My options to get it to here are:

  1. Mrs books an afternoon off work and we drive from Chichester at lunchtimeish to Chester, returning down south at half past silly in the morning.
  2. Autoshite Relay from Cavcraft to mine with petrol costs and sustenance to your dietary requirements provided. Can meet someone half way ish - say around Brummyland.
  3. I'm looking into a cheap(ish) flight from Southampton to somewhere near @Cavcraft for next saturday, though prices seem to change with each fart the cat (it's what it does) and the wife release (I've fed her beanz). I don't like flying much, nor do I like Southampton.

A couple of names for option No 2 have been recommended to me. I will get wifey to book me the flight when she gets paid if needs be.

I can possibly get it to Birmingham and catch train home if nobody else can collect for you.

That would be a big help; what would your travel expenses be for that? Train + a few bob for petrol?

You don't want to do option 1, as that means Mrs Books (it that really her name) has to drive to and from Chester.

And that a long way home.  If you end up getting the train, don't forget to tickety split

I did find that ticket splitting was more expensive than getting an aircraft. As much as I like rail travel, I once had to stand from Gravesend (Kent) to Nottingham on split ticketing in my mid-20's; Now I'm 40 that's not going to be an option with sciatic issues, plus they don't use 465 Networkers here, so rail travel now sucks.

I have privately messaged Billy cavcraft with an alternative that is feasible for Mrs Books and myself, hopefully for him as well.

If Billy wants to deliver to mine and I can stash it here until you get here. I'm not far from Birmingham and work there during the week so I can bring to work with me and hand over to you if its a week day collection or bring to Birmingham during the weekend.

That would be useful and a very kind offer @Lord Sterling; current plans are to collect the car this friday come what may and I will confirm with @Cavcraft by the middle of the week. If Billy needs it moved before then and you are able to store it this week, that would be a massive help.

Just done some internet searching and you can get a direct train from Chester to Birmingham New Street which takes 2 hours, or 1 change for an hour and a half's journey.

As the wife wants to join me on the collection caper, she wants us to drive up in the Toyota and come back in convoy (though I'd prefer we shared a train journey)

Isn't Chester on the Holyhead to London line, via Crewe and Brum?

It's also on the Chester to Cardiff line via Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

Yes, but most London trains now only stop at Crewe and Milton Keynes, I think.

I think there are local services, or you go via Wrecks ham. If I can help somehow let me know. I'm going to be busy working in Bagillt on Friday unless it absolutely pisses down, if that's the case I could be on call as private hire!

Sorry, to be clear you go via Wrexham; if you spell it as above Red Spotted Hanky* will think you are a moron.

*other ticketing vendors are indeed available

Mrs Dustman is about to run me down to somewhere to catch an electrically powered conveyance. I have my handbag packed with many useful things (a flask of coffee, a bottle of water, a grapefruit and a USB power pack for telephones).

Excited, also nervous.
