That's metal yards for you, it's a miracle they make any money with the thick decisions some of them make.

Its a one owner car too apparently, obviously an old boy whos thought his old rover was worthless and traded it in for a volvo. Bloody stupid of the yard to refuse to sell parts. BASTARDS

FFS! That's got to be worth more than two grand, or at least near! I hope the yard goes bust.

What the hell is wrong with people!, Why if have had a car all them years, Spend all this money on it would you then just go out and let it get scrapped?.Goes to show that all most people worry about is money and also how thick most of the great unwashed are. What was the mileage on it?, It looked really tidy as well, I can feel my shit start to itch!.

I'd guess the yard is more of a 'recyclers' rather than a scrapyard. ie one where all they are interested in is processing scrap metal and shipping it off to China rather than a traditional scrap yard where parts are available.Damn shame though.

At least the PA Cresta mentioned in CCW is getting broken up for parts, the breakers in question even helping with removal of bits, most of the body panels have already gone.

....or maybe the yard owner has thought "Fuck, that's going in my garage". Something like that would be easy enough to Ring anyway.

I wouldn't care if he did, better that than just squashing it....

http://www.scrapmymotor.com/You have got to be kidding!!!!

Erm, that seems to be owned by a bus company. Ulterior motive? MUCH?? Also nowhere does it seem to offer any money, other than the bus pass. I think I will put up a nice website, seems like money for old rope!!

Looks like a typical gormless cunt who'd think what she was doing was 'the right thing'. Ignorant twat.

Heard someone from the bus company being interviewed about it last week. They did admit that really it was a bit of a gimmick. You give them your car to scrap, in return they give you a 12mth bus pass. Then they hope that after that ends you'll buy another 12mth pass for the loser cruiser. No thx Vectis bus people, I'd rather shove a chainsaw up my ass.

I don't know much about the Isle of Wight, but I know on some islands it's a real arse-ache to scrap cars. If that's the case on the IOW then fair play to them.

Nope. There's no problem with scrapping cars over here. Two decent size yards. However, the bus service over here is rubbish and anyone stupid enough to participate in Southern Vectis's little scheme deserve to spend hours waiting at the roadside in the pouring rain for a non existent bus, which they will.

That picture does make me laugh, That don't look like a scrapper she's sat in with it's cream leather seats, Bet it's something like a New Beetle rather than a knackered Corsa.

 I was just guessing the photo company, honest!

What the?Trade your car in for a bus pass? Thats ridiculous, and i look forward to the day when it dawns on them (no doubt on a wet and cold day) that they could have been driving their own warm car to wherever they were going, instead of waiting for a bus which isnt coming. Is Southern Vectis owned by a larger Bus company or are they independant? I doubt any other company will follow suit.

The person who sacked that Rover off is officially as thick as pig shit.He does realise he'd have got more than 2k for that by SELLING IT ON, right?Oh yeah, it's because he 'didn't want the hassle', like that stupid bint at work who scrapped a 309 GTI 1.9 'because the steering was heavy'.She nearly caught a chair in the back of her head. The damn thing was mint, her dad gave it her.Why are these people allowed to make decisions independently?

Spotted today in the scrappage car compound of the local Nissan Stealership, I didnt go in and ask if it was a scrappage car (though given what was parked up around it I assumed it was) as we have had "words" in the past and I dont think I am welcome back there.....

Might just be owned by someone who works there and needed somewhere to keep it for a bit.

i hope so or i'll just have to go rob it from their yard

A friend of mine scrappaged a 205 for a 207. The new car was crap and kept going into limp home mode. Two courtesy cars did the same. Now she's got a 107. Which works. Peugeot = FAIL!

Peugeot = FAIL!

Probably said before my first job was in a Peugeot dealers in the late 70s. Part of what I did was PDIs on new cars (104 304/5 504/5 and 604s) it wasn't rare to have to have the carpets up to remove parts that the factory had carpeted over, the biggest I removed was a top engine mount from a 305 not a small item.Another factory fail was on a 504 it had one front brake caliper mounted forward of the strut and one mounted rear of the strut. The parts department would call this a change over model but this must of been the actual change over car. Would like to say we found this on the PDI but it wasn't discovered until the first service, a new car had to canabalised to get it back to the punter.Wandering off topic a bit, sorry
