Aunties scrote looks full of promise

I put a jump battery on it and it fired up straight away.

The last time it was started was middle of last year.

If you want an old school Ford then this is for you.

If it's not handbrake turns I dread to think what she's been doing with that handbrake.

^^^Some are 4wd.

I like the idea of them, but they don't work somehow.

Most of my driving is narrow lanes and bad roads where permanent 4wd is always better than 2wd and the tall body should be good too. But they aren't any good. Cramped, bouncy, slow and a dull drive.

Look neat if you avoid the 5door.

Yeah, I was interested in a 3 door HRV until I had a drive in one. Amazingly slow. Shame as they look quite good.

^^^ I made a profit on my 323 4x4 Turbo too - bought it for £150, sold it for £400, although I did get it running properly (-ish) in the meantime - those were the days...

How hard could it be to bung a 2.9 Cologne in this?

IIRC they're FWD.  Might be better with a Mondeo engine...

Aye, you're right they are FWD - must still be enough room under there to fit a Cologne though, assuming it bolts up to the existing autobox, which Ford always used to be pretty good for although I don't know if they still are.  I think a 2.5 out of a Mondeo might be a bit gutless for a barge of that size.

How many X-types are there for breaking?  There's a transverse 3.0 V6 in those, right?  I don't think the Sable is all that big, it shouldn't be much bigger than a Mk3 Granada, if it even is at all.  It might be heavier, granted, because it's filled with gadgets and "crash protection" but I would have thought a European Ford V6 would be perfectly adequate for normal domestic duty.  My stepdaughter had a V6 Mondeo estate, and when I drove it I thought it was quite sprightly, so in the Sable it should still keep up with, say, a four-pot Volvo.

Why bother with a Cologne? Those engines are everywhere.

Wikipedia says DuratecV6 or Vulcan V6. I have driven a Vulcan engined Windstar. Go for a Duratec!

Anyone who arsed about fitting a transverse boat anchor in that god-awful crate would reach a ‘shite headcase’ status that could never be surpassed! A large effort expended to fit a rubbish engine in a hideous car – all the boxes ticked.

I was gonna suggest a n/a lump from an Iveco Daily.....

BEST. ADVERT. EVER.

"I am definitely a genuine customer and have never met these gentlemen before."

Very soon the whole of the great continent of Africa will no the meaning of 'OMGHGF' ...

I think the funniest part of this excellent ad is the three photos of one oil filter.

Lovely car, except for the antiquated transmission, but please tell me why the link above it goes to a celeb gossip site?

It's amazing what good quality photos do for a car advert. There's loads of cars that I bet would get a lot more interest if they had photos to a similar standard as that Renault.

Oh look, it's one of those back-to-front Metros that isn't an MGF that the bearded Internet reckons can outhandle a McLaren P1.

Indeed. Good photos.

Agreed. That's a good ad and

PS. The car comes with a great Sony CD player that can connect to an ipod and a FULL tank of petrol to get you on your way!

is a nice touch too on a no reserve auction.
