This looks rather sad. Needs a new chassis apparently, sounds complicated I'm out!

Replacing the chassis is the easy bit. Sorting the body rot out will be the frustrating/expensive bit. Poor thing. An easy project for some folk I know.

Starion owner seems to have managed not to mention the D word in a performance RWD car ad!

This has brightened up my night, a Yellow Starion!

It somehow ended on my watchlist. I must be on a J-tin trip.

Argh, that will be like a teabag underneath. Also, I want to nick the seats and dye them red.

It's a 1.1 8 valve with multipoint fuel injection. I had one as well, there's a pic of it on here somewhere. As Sandie says, they're not as miserable as you might think. The R3 ain't that heavy.

EDIT here he is:

I had one for about 3 weeks. The output shaft on the box threw a wobbler. Didn't even last the time to have it repaired when a 7.5tonner went into the back of it.

The handling did seem absolutely shite, it could have been the tyres but it just seemed to under steer at every bend without any warning.

I'm pretty sure that Y30 diesels have an LD28 non-turbo. If so I predict an utterly dismal driving experience and almost certainly no more economy that a V6 (which are surprisingly good). I had a C32 Laurel with an LD28 and it was comically slow. An LD28T would be a big improvement but in all honesty I think most Nissan diesel engines that were using in cars and vans were pretty shite.

Hey RATDAT, welcome back! Here's a selection of LD28 converted motors for sale in NZ right now:

Kiwis love them! Or at least, used to back in the day. Must admit I haven't actually encountered many on the roads. Here's mine:

I'll freely admit that they are rubbish at accelerating but there's also a sense of achievement about maintaining a good average speed. Despite sounding pretty awful from the inside, the exhaust note at full chat outside is something else, akin to a straight six petrol. In conclusion, much happier at 100km/h limit than 70mph; that extra is virtually unobtainable in mine.

BIN is £6000!! Cars cost more over here but conversely keep their value well. I'm sure I could make my money back or turn a small profit on any of our cars, especially the Commodore. Had that 3 years now and bought for $1800.

Mr B that link goes directly to the bloody BIN confirmation page, as I was already signed in to eBay I was one careless click away from ending up with it before I even knew what it was!
