Forty five grand gets you a Ford Escort or Volkswagen Van, neither of which, unlike this, are approved by Audrey Forbes-Hamilton

These have four speeds. Slow, slower, snail's pace and stopped. I have no idea how they got so little power from a 3.1l engine.

I imagine something as crude as combustion would be a source of noise and vibration so they minimised it.

As for speed, a hearse version was used as camera car in Thunderball when the BSA overtook Bond’s Aston DB5 and blew up the Ford Galaxie.  It was filmed at Goodwood I think.

Manual, Green  and V5 probably as interesting as a Passat goes, apart for a W8 obvs.

VW product committee meeting, 1995:

Engineering: "Which engines shall we put in the Passat?"

Marketing: "All of them"

Rolls Royces developed 'adequate' power in those days.

It depends upon your idea of what 'adequate' means.

I saw that it was shit conversion

Adequate equals being capable of overtaking a 2CV. Being in a car that can't do this may get embarrassing rather fast!

My favourite American car ever for sale at a reasonable price

Fortunately, 'reasonble' does not mean 'attainable' so I'll have to be content with looking at the pictures for now, unless anyone wants to buy a Rover P6/ Citroen BX/ Peugeot 205 etc etc etc

Save this from being gobbled up by the Scotch.
