@MikeR looks like a Z500/Z550 to me.  I probably have one picture of the one you sold me. Somewhere.

Just noticed the Rear drum brake , the z500 had a disc ....

No. It definately didn't. I remember taking the drum apart.

On another forum a guys mate bought a 3 door range rover for 10k , he's had it 6 months took it for mot and the chassis is mostly wob and underseal

Write off , beyond repair , there'll be a lot like that about

My parents bought a Disco 2 TD5 for about 10k back in 2006, and in 2013 it was condemned for chassis rot... just a couple of days after I had driven around in it all day to help a mate move house! It essentially had no offside chassis rail left, apparently.

My dad had to ask the garage very nicely if they'd even allow him to drive it the 3 miles home along very quiet rural B roads so he could then sell it to a LR breaker.

How much is a new galvanised chassis ? Can you get one?

Years ago, a fabrication company I used to visit occassionally for work, had a contract to take and strengthen * brand new BL mini rear subframes, and then get them galvanised before shipping to a mini restorer, who was building Cooper replicas for the Japanese market.

* They seam welded them and added additional Gussets if I remember correctly.

You can. A couple of years ago my friend and I dismantled his 90 Td5 and rebuilt it on a new galv chassis

See the link in my signature "What I don't drive."

My dad's been in the process of rebuilding a 1958 Series 1 on a brand new galvanised chassis for a number of years now.

I don't even want to know how much it cost, though! I remember him telling me how much the 4 NOS pistons for the engine were. More than what I spend on a whole car on average (admittedly that's not hard to achieve).

you are losing your marbles in the lock down ...

Disc , u can see the top of the caliper , and 3 drilled holes in the disc at about 7 o clock.

it had new pad pins made up as the old ones corroded up ...IMG_20210217_162405_202.thumb.jpg.813aa60f089d5a65e53bcf264ffc5252.jpg

I thought the 550 was the shaft drive ?  ,  and the 500 the chain drive ,  the extra 50cc to allow for the losses in the shaft drive system

The z500, z550 and gpz550 were all chain.

The gt550 is the cockroach of the motorbike world, capable of enormous abuse and intergalactic mileage simultaneously. Ask any courier from the 80s through early 2000s

It's certainly not a gt550, the chain guard being the obvious giveaway

The engine also has a front sprocket which suggests it's not a GT.

I do not understand at all why people hide numberplates. What are you afraid of? Your crooked MOT history being researched? Or is there some elusive car identity theft going on from photos? There's nothing to stop me printing any numberplate and sticking it on my car and running some speed cameras or petrol stations. If there really was an issue it would be generic cars that get numberplate cloned. I probably see 10 white new Fiestas a day which could all be sharing numberplates. I haven't seen a grey escort in years. There really can't be much of a market for it.

Or have I missed something?

But generally for me, hidden numberplate on ebay is a no fly zone.

I always hide the numberplate when selling on eBay or Gumtree.  But then I have been a victim of number plate theft and cloning and I know how much hassle it is to get the powers that be to believe that it wasn't really you who drove past that speed camera at 30mph over the limit.

Someone saw my 306 on Gumtree years ago and MILF'd (or whatever you call it) a petrol station in Peterborough, I think.

MILF'd made Oi larf.... the word you were looking for is Bilked.  Apparently the offence was so named because of the sitcom character Sergeant Bilko.
